How a Repair Visit Works
What to know about Speed Queen washers
Speed Queen washers include classic top loaders with mechanical controls and an agitator, electronic top loaders and front loaders. Top loaders use a lid lock during spin and a robust drive system, while front loaders use a door lock and a drain pump with a coin trap. Common repairs include lid or door locks, inlet valves clogged with scale, drain pumps, timers or controls, and suspension wear on older machines. Speed Queen's commercial-style construction means repairs are often worthwhile. We test each part, inspect hoses and supply, and quote one price.
TrueFix Las Vegas is an independent repair company, not affiliated with Speed Queen. If this washer is still under its factory warranty, contact Speed Queen first.
Where Speed Queen washers usually fail
- Lid lock failing so the top loader will not spin
- Water inlet valve screens clogged by valley hard water
- Front loader drain pump blocked by coins or debris
- Mechanical timer not advancing through the cycle
- Washer walking during spin from worn suspension parts

Repairing Speed Queen washers in the Las Vegas Valley
Speed Queen washers come from Alliance Laundry, which also builds commercial laundry equipment, and the home machines borrow that heavy construction. The TC5 classic top loader uses a mechanical timer, an agitator and a transmission. TR series top loaders add electronic controls. FF7 front loaders bring the same commercial-style build to a front-load design with a door lock and a drain pump.
Owners usually buy a Speed Queen because they want a machine that lasts, so they expect it to be repaired rather than replaced. We agree with that thinking for most faults. Parts are well supported, the cabinets and tubs are durable, and many repairs return the washer to full service in one visit.
TC5 classic top loaders
The TC5 uses a mechanical timer that advances through the cycle, a center agitator and a transmission that switches between agitate and spin. It locks the lid during spin. Because it is mechanical, many faults can be traced with a meter and a cycle-by-cycle test rather than an error code.
A timer that stops advancing, a lid lock that will not engage and an inlet valve slowed by scale are among the faults we see most on these machines.
TR top loaders and FF7 front loaders
TR models use electronic controls with a top-load drive. Faults often show as codes or flashing lights, and the control records information that speeds diagnosis. FF7 front loaders use a door lock, a drain pump with a coin trap and electronic controls, so drain and door issues are common.
Each platform has different parts, so we confirm your model before ordering.
Hard water and inlet screens
Valley water leaves scale in inlet screens and valves. A washer that fills slowly, fills with only hot or cold, or stops on a fill fault may have a clogged screen or a failing valve. Cleaning screens can help, but a damaged valve needs replacing.
We inspect hoses and supply valves while checking the inlet.
Owner checks before service
Make sure both water valves are fully open and hoses are not kinked. Check the drain hose for blockages. On FF7 models, clean the coin trap with a towel and shallow pan ready. Check the lid or door latch for debris.
Unplug the washer before removing any panel or reaching under it.
Repair value on a Speed Queen
Lid locks, door locks, timers, valves, pumps and suspension parts are common repairs and almost always worthwhile. Transmission and bearing repairs cost more but are still often justified because the rest of the machine is built to last.
Older Speed Queen machines are often the ones owners most want to keep. We check the tub, the drive and the suspension together, so you know whether the machine has many years left before you put money into it.

The lid lock must engage before spin. A failed lock, a broken lid striker or a wiring issue can stop spin while the rest of the cycle works. Unbalanced loads can also slow spinning. Redistribute the load and close the lid firmly. If spin still fails, the lid lock should be tested.
Valley water leaves minerals that collect on the inlet valve screens and in the valves, slowing fills and sometimes causing leaks. Check the screens where the hoses connect to the washer after turning off the water. If filling remains slow, the inlet valve may need replacement. Using the right amount of detergent also helps.
Usually. Speed Queen machines are built for long service lives, and most parts are designed to be replaced. A lid lock, valve, pump, timer or suspension repair often makes more sense than buying a new washer. We diagnose the problem and give you one price for the full repair before any work begins.
Yes, when the property owner or manager arranges the service. Commercial and coin or card machines may be under a route operator's contract, so check that first. We service the machine itself and can explain what we find, which helps managers decide how to handle the unit.
The classic TC5 runs on a mechanical timer, so many faults never produce a code. We diagnose it by watching each stage of the cycle, checking timer contacts and testing the lid lock, valves and motor with a meter. The electronic TR and FF7 models do report codes or light patterns, which we read before testing.
Front loaders hold a little water in the door boot and the drain pump area. Leave the door ajar between loads, wipe the boot fold, clean the coin trap occasionally and use a measured amount of high-efficiency detergent. Running a hot cleaning cycle once a month helps more in a closed laundry room.
A mechanical timer advances with a small motor and contacts. If the timer motor weakens or a contact wears, the cycle stalls at one point and moves on only when the dial is turned. Note where it stops. The timer, or the part it is waiting on such as the lid lock or water level switch, needs testing.
Either works if it matches your machine type, HE for FF7 and electronic TR models labeled high efficiency. Liquids dissolve easily in cold water, while powders can clump in a cold fill. Measure carefully, because extra detergent leaves residue in the outer tub and hoses. A periodic washer cleaner helps keep the water path clear.
Unplug it, then adjust the front legs so the washer sits level side to side and front to back, and tighten the lock nuts against the cabinet. Some models have self-adjusting rear legs that settle when the washer is tipped forward slightly and lowered. If it still walks with a balanced load, suspension parts may be worn.
