Spin is blocked until the lid lock reports that it has engaged. A failed lock, a broken striker on the lid or a wiring fault at the lock will stop the cycle at spin. A blocked drain can do the same by leaving water in the tub. We test the lock and its circuit and check the drain path.
The igniter heats, but the gas valve is not opening fully. Weak gas valve coils are the classic cause: they work when cold, then fail as they warm up. A failing igniter that never quite reaches temperature can also prevent the valve from opening. We test the coils and igniter and replace what is weak.
Look at the inlet screens where the hoses connect to the machine; scale and sediment from valley water often clog them. Make sure both supply valves are fully open and the hoses are not kinked. If the screens are clean and flow is still weak, the inlet valve itself may need replacing.
We focus on the Speed Queen models used in homes, and we can look at machines in shared laundry rooms as well. Coin or card hardware may involve the route operator who owns the machines, so tell us who manages them when you book and we will confirm what we can service.
Squealing usually comes from a worn idler pulley or drum support rollers. As bearings dry out and wear, they squeal at the start of a cycle and often get louder over time. A thumping noise points to a flat spot on a roller. We replace worn rollers, pulleys and the belt together when they show wear.
No. TrueFix Las Vegas is an independent repair company with no affiliation to Speed Queen. If your Speed Queen is still under the manufacturer's warranty, contact Speed Queen first, because work by an independent shop may not be covered by that warranty. Once it is out of warranty, or if the warranty route does not work for you, we are glad to take a look.
Servicing Speed Queen in the Las Vegas Valley
Speed Queen is an American laundry brand, made in Ripon, Wisconsin, by Alliance Laundry Systems, and it has a reputation for machines built to commercial-style standards. Its home range covers classic mechanical top loaders with an agitator, electronic top loaders, front loaders, and gas and electric dryers. The badge is just as familiar on the coin-op and card-operated machines found in laundromats and shared apartment laundry rooms.
People buy Speed Queen expecting it to last, so when one breaks the question is rarely whether to fix it. Speed Queen repair is usually straightforward because the designs are simple and robust. We test the failed part, confirm it is available, and price the job as one figure before any work. Home units are freestanding with standard hookups, which keeps access easy.
Heavy build, simple logic
A classic Speed Queen top loader runs on a mechanical timer and a stout drive system, with a lid lock that holds the lid during spin. There is little electronics to go wrong, so faults are usually mechanical or electrical in a way a meter can trace: a lock that does not engage, a timer that does not advance, a valve that does not open.
On the front loaders, a locking door and a pump fronted by a coin trap take the place of the lid lock. Dryers use either an element and thermostats (electric) or an igniter and gas valve coils (gas), turning a heavy drum on rollers, an idler pulley and a belt.
Washer and dryer repairs we do
Washers: lid locks that will not engage so the tub never spins, inlet valve screens choked with scale from hard valley water, front-load pumps jammed by coins or hair ties, mechanical timers that stall, and older machines that walk across the floor on worn suspension parts.
Dryers: gas igniters that glow without lighting because the valve coils are weak, electric elements that have opened, high-limit thermostats tripped by a restricted vent, squealing rollers or idler pulleys, and broken belts.
Before you book: owner checks
If a washer fills slowly, turn off the supply valves, remove the hoses at the machine and look at the small screens in the inlet ports; white mineral grit there is common here. On a front loader that will not drain, open the coin trap behind the lower panel with a towel underneath.
For a dryer that takes two cycles, check the vent run end to end, especially where it passes through a hot garage wall. Unplug the machine before opening any panel, and shut the gas valve before moving a gas dryer.
Built to be repaired
Speed Queen machines are designed with long service in mind, and parts are well supported. Lid locks, valves, timers, pumps, igniters, coils, rollers and belts are all reasonable repairs, and even a major part can make sense given what a new machine costs. The case for replacement is mostly a tub, bearing or cabinet worn out after many years, and we tell you plainly if we find that.
