Refrigerator Repair Questions

Straight answers to what people ask before booking. If your question isn't here, send it with your booking request and we'll answer it.

Still have questions?

We cover 15 ZIP codes in Enterprise, Spring Valley, Paradise and southern Henderson.

A closed refrigerator generally keeps food cold for about four hours, and a full freezer holds longer than a half-empty one. Keep the doors shut, move dairy, meat and medication to a cooler with ice if the fresh food side climbs above 40°F, and check with a thermometer instead of guessing. Once the repair is done, give the unit several hours to pull back down before restocking.

Yes. Confirm the temperature setting has not been bumped, make sure food is not blocking the vents inside either compartment, and listen for the freezer fan when the door switch is pressed. If the condenser is reachable from the front grille, unplug the fridge and vacuum the dust off. Leave panels, wiring and anything in the sealed system to a technician.

It depends on what failed. A fan motor, defrost part, relay or valve is usually a reasonable repair on an otherwise sound refrigerator, especially a built-in model. A compressor or refrigerant leak on a basic top-freezer is a different calculation. After diagnosis we give you the actual price and our honest view, and the decision is yours.

That is usually defrost water that missed the drain. The defrost drain at the back of the freezer can freeze or clog with debris, so meltwater backs up and runs into the fresh food section. Clearing the drain helps for a while, but if it keeps freezing, a defrost heater or drain heater may have failed, and that is worth having tested.

Yes. Many calls come from tenants, landlords and property managers. If someone other than the owner is approving the work, let us know when you book so the price can go to the right person before the repair starts. For gated communities, giving us gate instructions or a guest code ahead of time keeps the visit on schedule.

No. We are an independent repair company and are not factory-authorized by any manufacturer. If your refrigerator is still under the manufacturer's warranty, contact the manufacturer first, since work by an independent shop may not be covered. Out-of-warranty refrigerators get manufacturer-specified parts by default and a 90-day parts and 30-day labor warranty on the repair.

Refrigerator · Las Vegas Valley

Refrigerator repair in the Las Vegas Valley

Most refrigerator repair calls begin with the same discovery: the milk is warm but the freezer still feels cold. That split tells a technician a lot. A cold freezer over a warm fresh food section usually means air is not moving between the compartments, either because a fan has stopped or because the evaporator coil has iced over after a defrost failure.

Valley conditions shape the rest of the workload. Condensers shed heat into kitchens and garages that stay very hot for months, so coils and condenser fans get worked hard, and hard tap water leaves scale in inlet valves, filters and dispenser lines. We work on top-freezer, bottom-freezer, side-by-side, French-door and built-in models.

Signs your fridge is losing the fight

Owners tend to notice the small things first: butter that stays soft, ice cream with a crust of ice crystals, sweating on the door edges or a compressor that never seems to shut off. A thin sheet of frost on the back panel of the freezer, or a puddle under the crisper drawers, are both clues worth mentioning when you book.

Noise is another early signal. A fan blade ticking against ice, a buzzing that starts and stops every few minutes, or a click with no compressor hum afterward each point toward a different part.

What usually fails, and why

Defrost faults lead the list: a burned-out heater, a failed defrost thermostat or a control that never starts the cycle lets the coil choke on frost. Evaporator and condenser fan motors come next, followed by start relays, thermistors and control boards. On models with water service, a scaled inlet valve can starve the ice maker or make the dispenser trickle.

Sealed-system failures (a compressor that will not run or a refrigerant leak) are less common than people fear, but they do happen, and they are the point where repair-versus-replace becomes a real conversation.

Refrigerator brands on our service list

We see a lot of Samsung and LG French-door models, Whirlpool, Maytag, KitchenAid and GE units, and Frigidaire top-freezers in rentals. Built-in and column refrigeration from Sub-Zero, Thermador, Viking, JennAir, Fisher & Paykel and Miele is on the list too, along with commercial reach-ins from True, Turbo Air and Atosa.

How a refrigerator visit runs

The technician starts with measured temperatures in both compartments rather than the display reading. Next come the fans, the condenser and the evaporator cover, which is often removed to see the coil directly. Suspect parts are tested with a meter, so the quote is based on a confirmed fault.

You get one price covering parts and labor and decide before anything is replaced. If the sealed system is involved, we explain the options plainly, including when replacement makes more sense.

Why owners call TrueFix for cooling problems

A failing fridge rarely waits for business hours, so a person answers our line around the clock, and we do not add an after-hours surcharge. Same-day visits are often possible, though we will be straight with you if the schedule is full. Repairs use manufacturer-specified parts by default and carry a 90-day parts and 30-day labor warranty.
