FAQ

Cooktop Repair Questions

Straight answers to what people ask before booking. If your question isn't here, send it with your booking request and we'll answer it.

Still have questions?

We cover 15 ZIP codes in Enterprise, Spring Valley, Paradise and southern Henderson.

Continuous clicking usually means moisture has reached the switch or igniter after cleaning or a boil-over, or a burner switch has failed. Turn the burner off and let the area dry for a day. If the clicking continues, the switch or spark module needs testing. Do not leave gas on without a flame.

Usually yes. The glass top is often available as a part, and the elements beneath can be reused if they are sound. Stop using the cracked surface and turn off its breaker until it is repaired. We confirm part availability and give you a price before ordering anything.

Induction only works with magnetic cookware. Test with a magnet; if it does not stick firmly to the bottom, the pan will not work. Small pans may also be below the size the zone detects. If a known induction pan is not recognized, the zone's coil, sensor or power board may have failed.

Turn off the burners, do not operate light switches or appliances, and leave the home. Contact your gas utility from outside. Once the utility has made the area safe, we can find and repair the appliance side of the leak, and we leak-test the connections after the repair.

Gas flames should be mostly blue. Yellow or orange flames often come from dirty burner ports, misaligned caps or dust in the air. If they persist after cleaning, the burner orifice or air shutter may be wrong for the gas type. A technician should check it, since poor combustion can produce carbon monoxide.

No. We are an independent repair company and are not factory-authorized by any manufacturer. If your cooktop is still under the manufacturer's warranty, contact the manufacturer first, since work by an independent shop may not be covered. Out-of-warranty cooktops get manufacturer-specified parts by default and a 90-day parts and 30-day labor warranty on the repair.

Cooktop · Las Vegas Valley

Cooktop repair in the Las Vegas Valley

A cooktop can be one of three very different machines. Gas models use spark ignition and burner valves, electric radiant and coil tops use elements controlled by infinite switches or touch controls, and induction tops drive magnetic coils with power electronics. Cooktop repair starts with knowing which design is in front of you.

This page covers built-in cooktops and rangetops on their own, not the oven below. Glass tops in the valley pick up hard-water rings from boil-overs, which look alarming but usually clean off with a scraper and glass-top cleaner. The real faults are igniters, spark modules, switches, elements, touch controls, induction power boards and the cooling fans that keep those boards alive.

Symptoms on the cooking surface

Gas cooktop owners report burners that click without lighting, clicking that will not stop, weak or yellow flames, and burners that light only with a match. Radiant top owners see elements stuck on high, zones that will not heat, or cracks in the glass. Induction owners see error codes, zones that pulse or do not detect the pan, and fans that run loudly.

Causes behind a dead burner or zone

On gas tops, wet or dirty igniters, misaligned burner caps, cracked electrodes and failed spark modules are common, and clogged burner ports cause weak flames. Radiant and coil tops fail at elements, infinite switches and terminals. Induction tops depend on power boards, coils, sensors and a cooling fan, which can collect grease and dust.

Cooktop and rangetop brands

We service gas and induction cooktops and rangetops from Wolf, Thermador, Viking, Gaggenau, Miele, Bosch, Dacor, JennAir, Fisher & Paykel, Bertazzoni and Smeg, plus GE, KitchenAid, Whirlpool, Frigidaire, Samsung and LG models found in most tract homes.

Testing the circuit, burner to supply

The technician checks supply first: gas pressure and spark power on gas tops, voltage on electric and induction models. Then the burner, element or coil, the switch or board, and wiring are tested in order. After any gas work, connections are leak-tested.

One price covering parts and labor is approved before any work, and if the house wiring or gas line is at fault rather than the appliance, we tell you which trade to call.
