How a Repair Visit Works
What to know about LG cooktops
LG cooktops are sold as gas, radiant electric and induction models, mostly in 30 and 36 inch widths. Each type fails differently. Gas cooktops commonly have igniters that click without lighting, or burners that light unevenly because of misplaced caps or debris in the ports. Radiant cooktops have elements that stop heating or stay on, usually from failed infinite switches or element breaks. Induction models depend on power boards and cooling fans, and they show error codes when cookware or ventilation is the problem. We identify the type, test the components involved and check the glass for cracks before quoting.
TrueFix Las Vegas is an independent repair company, not affiliated with LG. If this cooktop is still under its factory warranty, contact LG first.
Where LG cooktops usually fail
- Gas burner igniter clicking continuously after the flame lights
- Radiant element not heating or staying on at all settings
- Induction zone not detecting pans or showing an error
- Cracked glass top after impact or a hot pan drop
- Touch controls not responding because of moisture or residue

Repairing LG cooktops in the Las Vegas Valley
A built-in LG cooktop is a separate appliance from the oven below it, wired or plumbed on its own and dropped into the counter. Gas models use sealed burners with a shared spark module. Radiant electric tops use ribbon elements under ceramic glass, controlled by switches or a touch board. Induction tops use power boards, coils and a cooling fan, and they report faults through the display.
Each type fails in its own way, so we start by confirming which one you have and how it is supplied. Then we test the specific parts, check the glass for damage and give you one price. Island and peninsula installations sometimes need extra care with cabinets and venting, which we account for.
Induction tops need clean air underneath
LG induction cooktops push a lot of power through their boards, and a small fan keeps the electronics cool. If the cabinet below is packed tight, or the fan inlet clogs with dust and kitchen grease, the cooktop can throttle power or shut a zone off. In a hot kitchen in summer, that happens sooner.
Pan detection also matters. A pan that is too small, warped or not magnetic may not register, which can look like a dead zone. We rule that out before testing coils and boards.
Radiant glass tops
On a radiant LG top, an element that will not heat is usually a failed element, switch or relay. An element that stays on high regardless of the setting points to the control side. The glass itself can be replaced if cracked, though the cost and availability depend on the model, and we confirm that before quoting.
What owners can check
For induction, test the zone with a flat-bottomed magnetic pan that a fridge magnet sticks to. For gas, lift each cap, wipe the burner base dry and seat the cap evenly. For any model, check the breaker or confirm the gas shutoff is open.
Do not use a cooktop with a cracked glass surface. Liquid can reach the elements or electronics. If you smell gas, turn off the burners, close the gas supply, ventilate the room and leave the house if the smell is strong.
Repair or replace
Igniters, switches, elements, induction fans and touch boards are all worthwhile repairs on a cooktop that fits your counter cutout. Replacing a cooktop often means matching an exact cutout size, which can limit your choices. If the glass and a power board both need replacement on an older induction unit, we will lay out both paths so you can decide.

Induction only works with magnetic cookware, so check whether a magnet sticks firmly to the bottom of the pan. Pans that are too small for the zone or badly warped may not register either. If a pan that worked before stops being detected on one zone only, the coil or power board for that zone may need testing.
Usually yes, since LG sells replacement glass assemblies for many models, often with the frame. Stop using a cracked radiant or induction top and turn off the breaker, because spills can reach live parts. We confirm part availability for your model number before quoting, since older units can be harder to source.
The spark module keeps clicking when it does not sense the flame properly or when moisture reaches a switch. Let the cooktop dry completely after spills, and make sure the burner cap sits flat on its base. If clicking continues on a dry cooktop, the knob switch or spark module is usually at fault. Turn off the gas before any work.
They can be. Water, cleaner or a damp cloth on the control area can register as a touch, which may lock the controls or trigger an error. Wipe the control zone dry and try again. If the controls stay unresponsive or beep randomly on a clean, dry surface, the touch board may be failing and can be tested.
Common causes include overheating from a blocked cooling fan or a cramped cabinet below, a pan that is not being detected consistently, or a failing power board. Liquid on the touch controls can also make the unit shut down. Clean the top and controls, check the area underneath for airflow, and if it continues, have the fan and boards tested.
On most LG cooktops, the glass top can be replaced as a separate part, often with the frame attached. The price depends on availability for your model, so we confirm that before quoting. If the glass is the only problem, replacing it is usually far less disruptive than replacing the cooktop and the counter work that can come with it.
The burners need electricity for spark ignition. During a power outage, some gas cooktops can be lit carefully with a long match while the knob is in the lighting position, but check your owner's manual first. If the burners will not light with power on, the spark module, switch or igniter is the usual cause.
Radiant elements cycle on and off to hold lower heat levels, so a low setting may look dark much of the time. That is normal. If a low setting does not warm the pan at all, or high and low feel the same, the control switch or relay may be failing. We test the element and control separately.
That depends on the model and type, and the installation guide lists the exact requirement. Induction and large radiant cooktops need a dedicated circuit of the correct size. Gas cooktops need a proper shutoff and connector. If your cooktop trips its breaker or was installed recently and behaves oddly, the supply is worth checking before parts.
