How a Repair Visit Works
What to know about Dacor cooktops
Dacor cooktops include gas, induction and some radiant electric models, along with pro-style rangetops built for cabinet installation. Gas models are known for features such as simmer burners and, on some models, illuminated control knobs. The common faults are spark igniters that click or will not fire, burners that will not hold a low simmer, cracked glass on induction or radiant tops, and induction power board or cooling fan failures. Because cooktops sit over drawers or ovens, we check the cutout ventilation too. We test each burner or zone, check gas supply and quote first.
TrueFix Las Vegas is an independent repair company, not affiliated with Dacor. If this cooktop is still under its factory warranty, contact Dacor first.
Where Dacor cooktops usually fail
- Simmer burner flame goes out at the lowest setting
- Illuminated knob lights flicker or stop working
- Spark igniter clicks continuously after a spill
- Induction power board fails and zones stop heating
- Rangetop burner flame uneven from clogged ports

Repairing Dacor cooktops in the Las Vegas Valley
Dacor sells three kinds of cooking surface that sit in a counter or cabinet rather than on a range: gas cooktops that drop into a countertop cutout, pro-style rangetops that slide into a base cabinet with knobs on the front, and induction or radiant electric cooktops with glass tops. Each family uses different parts and a different repair approach.
These units often sit in islands, above wall ovens or under large hoods, so access and ventilation matter as much as the part itself. We start by identifying the model and the installation, check the supply, and test each burner or zone with the unit in place whenever we can.
Gas cooktops versus rangetops
A drop-in gas cooktop sits on the counter with its controls on the top surface, while a rangetop is installed into a cabinet opening with knobs on a front panel and continuous grates like a range. Rangetops usually have more powerful burners and, on some models, a griddle or grill section.
Both use spark ignition with automatic reignition on many models, which relights a burner that blows out. When that system misreads the flame, burners click while lit or relight repeatedly, and the fix depends on whether the sensor, electrode or module is at fault.
Induction and glass electric surfaces
Induction models heat magnetic cookware directly using power modules under the glass. They need cooling airflow from below, so a cooktop installed over a drawer stuffed with towels or a wall oven running at full heat can overheat and throttle down.
Radiant electric versions use elements under the glass, each with a limiter to protect the surface. A zone that heats weakly or cycles too often can have a failing limiter rather than a bad element, which we confirm with testing.
Checks you can make safely
On gas models, confirm the burner caps are seated, the ports are clean and dry, and the cooktop is plugged in for ignition power. On induction, try a pan that a magnet sticks to firmly and make sure nothing is blocking the vents underneath.
Turn off gas and power before lifting a cooktop or pulling a rangetop. If a burner valve will not close or you smell gas, shut off the supply and call the gas utility.
Repair outlook for Dacor cooktops
Igniters, spark modules, valves, knobs, limiters and induction modules are worth replacing on most Dacor cooktops because the units are expensive and fitted to the counter. Glass replacement is also common, if the part is available.
Older models with discontinued control boards or glass may be harder to repair. If replacement makes more sense, we can help you confirm that a new unit fits the existing cutout or cabinet opening.

At very low settings, the flame is small and easily disturbed by drafts, a misaligned cap or clogged ports. Clean and dry the burner and make sure the cap is seated. If it still goes out, the valve or simmer setting may need adjustment, which we can do safely.
Usually not. The lights are often powered by a small transformer or module and LEDs in the knob area. If only the lights fail and burners work, a light module, wiring connection or LED is the likely cause. We test the circuit and replace the failed part.
If the glass is cracked, stop using the cooktop, since spills can reach the electronics. Replacement glass assemblies are available for some models. We check part availability and cost and whether the rest of the cooktop is sound before recommending repair.
Clean the igniter electrodes and burner ports, dry everything thoroughly and make sure caps sit flat. Moisture or grease on the electrode weakens the spark. If ignition is still slow after cleaning, the spark module or a switch may be failing. Shut off the gas if you smell it.
Some sound is normal with induction, especially at high power or with lightweight pans. Pans with layered bases can buzz more than solid ones. If the noise is new and loud, or comes with error codes, the cooling fan or power module may need testing. Try a different heavy pan first to compare.
A griddle that runs hot in one area may have a partly blocked burner, a misaligned plate or a thermostat that needs testing. Griddles also have natural hot and cool zones. We clean and inspect the burner, test the thermostat, and check that the plate sits correctly before recommending parts.
Many Dacor gas cooktops can be converted with the manufacturer's conversion kit, which changes the burner orifices and the regulator setting. The conversion must match your model. We install the correct parts and check the flame on each burner after conversion.
Turn off the breaker for a minute, then turn it back on. Many controls reset after a power interruption. If the error returns, the outage may have coincided with a fault in a power module or control. Note the error code and the zones affected before calling.
Sometimes, but cutout sizes vary by brand and model. If repair is not practical, we measure the existing opening and compare it with replacement specifications. That helps you avoid stone modifications, which are costly and slow, and plan a replacement that fits cleanly with the gas or electrical connection where it already is.
