How a Repair Visit Works
What to know about Frigidaire cooktops
Frigidaire builds smooth-top electric, gas and induction cooktops for counter installation, including Gallery and Professional models with bridge elements and faster induction zones. Radiant smooth-top cooktops commonly lose an element or switch, and some show a hot-surface light that will not turn off because of a failed limiter. Gas cooktops tend to need igniter or spark switch repairs after spills. Induction models can shut down when the cooling fan or power board fails. We check each zone, look for heat damage to wiring under the glass and quote before any repair.
TrueFix Las Vegas is an independent repair company, not affiliated with Frigidaire. If this cooktop is still under its factory warranty, contact Frigidaire first.
Where Frigidaire cooktops usually fail
- Radiant element fails and one zone stays cold
- Hot-surface indicator light stays on after cooking ends
- Bridge element section heats only one half of the zone
- Gas spark switch clicks constantly after a spill
- Induction cooling fan fails and zones shut off mid-cook

Repairing Frigidaire cooktops in the Las Vegas Valley
Frigidaire sells counter-mounted cooktops in three technologies: radiant electric under glass, sealed-burner gas and induction. Gallery and Professional versions add bridge elements, larger burners and faster heating, but the core parts are similar across each family, which helps keep replacement parts available for many years after a model is discontinued.
Unlike a range, a cooktop sits in a counter cutout, often above drawers or a wall oven. That means we check the space below for heat damage and ventilation, and we plan how to lift the unit out if the repair requires it. Knowing the model number ahead of time lets us check part availability before we arrive.
Radiant glass cooktops
Radiant models heat coiled ribbons under a glass surface, each controlled by an infinite switch or a touch control. A zone that will not heat at all can be the element, its limiter or the switch, and we test each separately to avoid replacing a good part.
Cracks in the glass are a separate issue. Small chips at the edge may not affect operation, but cracks across a cooking zone are a safety concern, and the top should not be used until it is replaced.
Gas and induction models
Gas cooktops use spark igniters wired to a module that sparks every burner when any knob is turned. A burner that will not light often has a dirty electrode or a misaligned burner cap; constant clicking usually means moisture or a damaged switch.
Induction cooktops heat the pan directly using power electronics under the glass. They depend on a cooling fan, and a fan that fails can make zones shut down mid-cook. A pan that is not magnetic will not register at all, which is worth checking with a magnet first.
Owner checks before a visit
Check the breaker for electric and induction units, and confirm gas is on for gas models. On a gas cooktop, lift each burner cap and make sure it is seated flat and the ports are clear. On induction, test with a cast iron or magnetic pan.
Turn off the breaker or gas before lifting a cooktop. Never use a cracked glass top, and do not use a metal object to clean around igniters.
Is a Frigidaire cooktop worth repairing?
Elements, switches, igniters and spark modules are inexpensive compared with replacing a cooktop and possibly recutting the counter. Glass replacement and induction power boards cost more but are often still reasonable on a Gallery or Professional unit.
Replacement is worth considering when an older radiant top needs both new glass and multiple elements. We price each option so you can compare.

Still have questions?
We cover 15 ZIP codes in Enterprise, Spring Valley, Paradise and southern Henderson.
If it stays lit long after the glass is cool, the limiter or switch that controls the light has likely failed, or the control is stuck. It can also mean an element is still receiving power, which is a safety issue. Turn the cooktop off at the breaker and have it tested before using it again.
The bridge zone uses separate heating sections that join two burners into one long zone. If only half heats, either one section of the element has failed or the switch or control that powers the bridge setting is faulty. We test each section to see which part needs replacement.
Induction electronics need cooling airflow from a fan under the glass. If the fan fails or vents are blocked by items in the drawer or cabinet below, the cooktop overheats and shuts down to protect itself. Clear the area underneath. If it still shuts off, the fan or power board may need service.
Electrodes are simple parts, but they connect to a spark module and wiring under the cooktop, and the job involves working near gas lines. If you are not experienced, shut off the gas and power and let us handle it. Often the electrode is fine and just needs cleaning and drying.
Radiant elements cycle by design to hold a set heat level, so some on and off glowing at medium settings is normal. If the element cycles off on high or never stays on long enough to cook, the limiter or the infinite switch may be faulty.
Only pans that a magnet sticks to, such as cast iron and many stainless steel pans. Aluminum and copper pans will not heat unless they have a magnetic base. If a zone ignores a magnetic pan, the zone sensor or power board needs testing.
Uneven flames usually mean clogged ports or a misaligned burner cap. Clean the burner head with a soft brush and let it dry completely before reinstalling. If the flame stays uneven, the orifice or gas pressure may need professional attention.
Yes, when the glass is still available for your model. Replacement involves removing the cooktop from the counter and transferring the elements and controls to the new top. We confirm parts availability before quoting, and if the glass is discontinued we discuss replacement cooktops that fit the existing cutout.
Some repairs, such as burner caps and some gas igniters, can be done in place. Elements, switches and induction boards often require lifting the cooktop. We disconnect power or gas safely, protect the counter during removal and check the sealing strip when the unit goes back in so spills cannot run underneath.
