What to know about Bosch cooktops
Bosch cooktops are mostly induction and gas, with some radiant electric models. Bosch induction tops often include a FlexInduction zone that combines two cooking areas, and their power electronics are cooled by a fan under the glass. When a zone shows an error or cuts out, the cause can be cookware, ventilation underneath the cabinet, a failing cooling fan, or a power board. Bosch gas cooktops use sealed burners with electronic ignition and occasional igniter or spark module trouble. We check the installation clearances, test the boards and fans or the ignition parts, and look over the glass.
TrueFix Las Vegas is an independent repair company, not affiliated with Bosch. If this cooktop is still under its factory warranty, contact Bosch first.
Where Bosch cooktops usually fail
- Induction zone cutting out mid-cook from overheating electronics
- Cooling fan under the glass noisy or not running
- FlexInduction zone not recognizing a large pan
- Gas burner igniter sparking but not lighting
- Touch controls locked or unresponsive after a spill

Repairing Bosch cooktops in the Las Vegas Valley
Bosch cooktops come in induction, sealed-burner gas and radiant electric versions across the 500, 800 and Benchmark Series. Induction is where Bosch has the most models in valley kitchens, including tops with a FlexInduction area that joins two zones for a griddle or large pan, and it is also where diagnosis takes the most care.
A cooktop is mounted in the counter, and the space beneath it matters. A drawer of pans pushed against the bottom of an induction unit can block its air and cause the very faults the owner is calling about. We look at the installation as closely as we look at the cooktop itself.
Inside a Bosch induction top
Each zone has a copper coil under the glass, driven by a power board that switches high current. Those boards produce heat and rely on a small fan to stay within limits. When the fan slows or the cabinet below is closed in, zones throttle back or shut off.
Pans must be magnetic and flat. A warped pan rocks on the glass and can make the zone flicker on and off, which looks like a board fault but is not.
Gas and radiant Bosch models
On gas models, each sealed burner has its own igniter electrode and a shared spark module. A burner that clicks but will not light usually has wet or dirty ports or a misplaced cap. Radiant models use elements under the glass with a limiter that keeps the glass from overheating.
Radiant faults usually come down to an element, a limiter or a switch, and they are tested one at a time.
What you can check yourself
Wipe the glass, then test the zone with a pan you know is magnetic. Look under the cooktop for blocked vents or items pressed against the housing. On gas, remove the cap, dry the burner and reseat it. Check that the child lock is off.
Switch off the breaker or gas supply before lifting a cooktop or touching wiring. If the glass is cracked, stop using it, because spills can reach live parts.
Glass, boards and repair value
Fans, sensors and single igniters are modest repairs. Power boards on induction units cost more, and a cracked top glass is often sold as a full top assembly. We check part pricing for your exact model before you decide.
Because a replacement cooktop has to fit the existing counter cutout, repairing a Bosch is often simpler than finding a new unit that matches the opening.
Remodels and replacement cutouts
Many valley kitchens were remodeled with an induction top dropped into a cutout made for an older gas or electric unit. If the junction box, breaker size or under-cabinet clearance was not updated to suit, the cooktop can run hot or trip. We check the supply and the opening, and we tell you if the install needs attention from an electrician or cabinet installer rather than a parts repair.

Induction electronics produce heat and need cooling air from the cabinet below. If the cooling fan is weak, or the cabinet has a drawer or insulation blocking airflow, the cooktop protects itself by reducing power or shutting off. Check the clearances in the installation guide. If they are fine, the fan or board likely needs testing.
The pan must be magnetic and must cover enough of the zone's sensors to be detected. Large griddles or oval roasting pans are well suited to FlexInduction, while small pots should go on a regular zone. Warped or thin pans may be detected poorly. If correct cookware fails on one zone, have it checked.
A quiet hum or buzz is normal with induction, especially on high power or with multi-layer pans, and the cooling fan also makes a steady sound. A loud rattle, grinding or a fan running constantly when the cooktop is off is not normal and may point to a failing fan or a board problem.
It is safe for a short time, but it is worth fixing. Moisture from boiling over is the usual cause, so let the cooktop dry for a day. If it continues, a switch or the spark module has probably failed. Turn off the gas supply to the cooktop before any work is done on it.
Bosch induction models display a letter and number when the electronics detect a problem. Write down the exact code and which zone shows it. Some codes point to overheating or cookware, others to a board. We read the code alongside our own tests before ordering any part.
The fan keeps cooling the power electronics until they drop below a set temperature. It can run for several minutes after cooking. If it never stops, a temperature sensor or the fan control may be faulty and should be checked.
Only with the clearances and ventilation the installation manual specifies. Many installations need a spacer or a gap to let warm air out. If your cooktop overheats only when the drawer below is full, the installation is likely the cause.
A lifting or noisy flame often means the cap is misaligned or the gas pressure is high. Turn the burner off and check the cap. If it continues, shut off the gas and book a visit so the pressure, orifice and burner can be inspected.
Yes. Liquid can reach the wiring and induction coils through a crack, and the glass may break further when heated. Turn the cooktop off at the breaker and do not use it until the glass is replaced. On most Bosch models the glass comes as a top assembly, so we confirm the exact part before ordering.
