How a Repair Visit Works
What to know about Miele cooktops
Miele cooktops are mostly induction, with some gas and electric radiant models, and many have flexible zones that combine for large pans. Induction calls often involve a zone that will not recognize a pan, a cooling fan that has failed, or an error after the cooktop shuts itself off. Cookware is worth checking first, since thin or non-magnetic pans will not register. A cooktop built into a cabinet without enough ventilation below can overheat and trip its protection. Gas models bring igniter and electrode issues. We test the supply voltage on both legs, cookware detection and the power electronics before recommending a part.
TrueFix Las Vegas is an independent repair company, not affiliated with Miele. If this cooktop is still under its factory warranty, contact Miele first.
Where Miele cooktops usually fail
- Induction zone not detecting the pan placed on it
- Cooling fan failure causing the cooktop to shut off
- Overheating in a cabinet with poor ventilation below
- Gas burner igniter sparking weakly or not at all
- Cracked glass surface after a heavy pan dropped

Repairing Miele cooktops in the Las Vegas Valley
Miele cooktops cover three different technologies: induction with flexible PowerFlex areas, sealed-burner gas models, and radiant electric glass tops. Each fails in its own way, and the first job on any visit is to confirm which type and generation you have, since an induction fault and a radiant fault share almost nothing.
Induction models in particular depend on clean power, good cooling airflow under the glass and compatible cookware. Many problems that look like a failed board turn out to be one of those three conditions, so we check the installation before suggesting expensive parts. A quick look under the counter, at the breaker and at your favorite pans often tells us more than the error on the display.
Induction-specific diagnosis
Each induction area is driven by a power module that sends high-frequency current to a coil under the glass. When a whole side of the cooktop stops responding, the fault is often in one module or its supply, not in every coil. When one zone fails but the others on the same side work, the coil, its sensor or its connection becomes more likely.
Some Miele induction models can link with a matching hood through Con@ctivity. If the hood stops responding to the cooktop, the link settings are worth checking before any part is ordered.
Gas and radiant models
Miele gas cooktops use sealed burners with electronic ignition and a flame-safety device on each burner. A burner that lights but goes out when the knob is released points to that safety circuit. Radiant cooktops are simpler: an element, a limiter and a control. A zone that glows weakly or cycles off too soon usually involves one of those.
What you can check safely
Test the problem zone with a pan you know works on induction; a magnet should stick firmly to the base. Look under the cabinet, if accessible, for a drawer or stored items blocking the cooling fan's intake. For gas models, make sure burner caps sit flat and dry.
Do not remove the cooktop from the counter, and do not open the underside. Induction electronics hold dangerous voltage, and gas cooktops need a leak check after any disturbance of the connection.
When glass, boards or the whole unit is the answer
A cracked glass top can be replaced on many Miele models, but it is a significant part, and we confirm availability first. Power modules, sensors and fans are commonly repairable. If the cooktop is older and both the glass and a module have failed, we price the repair beside a replacement so you can compare.

Induction only works with cookware that a magnet sticks to firmly, and the pan base needs to cover enough of the zone. Small or thin pans, aluminum, copper and some stainless pans may not be detected. Try a cast iron pan on the same zone. If a known good pan still is not detected, the induction coil or power board for that zone may have failed.
Induction cooktops protect their electronics from heat. If the cooling fan has failed, or the cabinet below has no ventilation gap, the cooktop overheats and shuts down or lowers power. An oven installed directly beneath without the correct spacing can contribute. We check the fan, the installation clearances and the power electronics. A safety timer can also switch zones off after a long time at one setting.
Yes. On many models the glass top can be replaced as a part, keeping the existing electronics. Stop using a cracked cooktop and switch it off at the breaker, since liquid can reach live components through the crack. After inspection we confirm that the coils and boards underneath were not damaged, then quote the glass replacement as one price for parts and labor.
Yes. These cooktops draw significant power and are designed for a dedicated 240-volt circuit sized for the model. If one leg of the supply is missing, half the zones may be dead or the display may behave strangely, which looks like a cooktop fault. We measure the supply first on any power-related complaint so you do not pay for a part that was not the problem.
Some noise is normal with induction, especially at high power or with layered or lightweight pans. The cooling fan also runs during and after cooking. A loud rattle, a grinding fan or noise with no pan on the glass is not normal and should be checked.
The cooktop reduces power to protect its electronics when they get too warm, often because of blocked ventilation or a weak cooling fan. Power sharing between zones can also limit output when several are on. We check fan operation and airflow under the unit first.
Many Miele gas cooktops can be converted with the correct orifice kit, but it must be done by a qualified technician and checked for leaks afterward. Most homes in the valley run on natural gas, so conversions are uncommon here.
Most Miele cooktops have a child or system lock that can be switched on accidentally while wiping the controls. The manual shows the unlock sequence. If the controls stay locked after that, moisture or a fault on the touch panel may be involved.
It can. Power modules are the most exposed parts during a surge or a brief outage. If the cooktop stops working right after a storm or outage, check the breaker first. If the breaker is fine and the unit stays dead, we test the supply and modules.
