The lid that seals the drawer during the wash is the usual source. A worn lid seal, a lid that only half lowers, or a drawer that no longer lines up with it lets water escape at the front edge. Tall items catching the lid can cause the same thing. We test the lid mechanism, inspect the seal, and check drawer alignment before quoting.
Not necessarily. A SmartDrive motor fault can come from the stator windings, the rotor position sensor, the wiring between them or the motor control board. We read the fault history, measure the stator, and test the sensor before naming a part. The sensor and wiring are far cheaper than a stator, so testing first matters.
Each drawer has its own pump, lid mechanism and controls, so one can fail while the other runs normally. The fault is usually on the dead drawer itself: a lid motor, a flood sensor that has tripped, or a drain pump. We read that drawer's fault code and test its parts, which keeps the repair limited to the drawer that actually failed.
ActiveSmart refrigerators learn from door openings and adjust compressor speed and defrost timing. A thermistor reading slightly off, a fan slowing down, or a compressor drive that is not ramping up under load can all show as slow drift. Logging temperatures over the visit and testing the sensors and drive is how we separate those causes.
Yes. A small motor drives the drawer through gears, and position sensors tell the control where it is, so failures there are often separate from the heating side. We safely discharge the high-voltage circuit, test the magnetron, diode and capacitor, then check the drawer motor and sensors. A drawer that stops partway usually points to the mechanism rather than the cooking parts.
No. TrueFix Las Vegas is an independent repair company with no affiliation to Fisher & Paykel. If your Fisher & Paykel is still under the manufacturer's warranty, contact Fisher & Paykel first, because work by an independent shop may not be covered by that warranty. Once it is out of warranty, or if the warranty route does not work for you, we are glad to take a look.
Servicing Fisher & Paykel in the Las Vegas Valley
Fisher & Paykel started in New Zealand and built its name on designs that do things differently: a dishwasher in a drawer, a washer with no belt or transmission, refrigeration that adjusts itself to how the household uses it. Many of its kitchen products sit flush with cabinetry behind custom panels, although the laundry pair and several refrigerators stand alone.
Those differences are why Fisher & Paykel repair rewards someone who knows the brand's logic. A DishDrawer leak and a standard dishwasher leak have different causes, and a SmartDrive washer fault code points at parts other brands do not have. We diagnose on site, protect panels and cabinetry while we work, and put a single parts-and-labor figure in front of you before starting.
Designs that need their own diagnostic approach
The DishDrawer lowers a lid onto the drawer to seal it for each wash. A lid actuator that does not move, a worn lid seal or a drawer that sits out of alignment will stop a cycle or leak at the front, and none of those exist on a door-style machine.
SmartDrive washers turn the basket directly with a rotor and stator, guided by a control board and position sensor. ActiveSmart refrigerators vary compressor speed and defrost timing based on use, so a weak sensor shows up as temperatures that drift over days rather than an outright failure. We log temperatures and read fault history before choosing a part.
Appliance-by-appliance: what we repair
Refrigerators and freezers: ActiveSmart drift, column fans that fail quietly, ice makers in freezer drawers and columns, door alignment on panel-ready columns, and variable-speed compressor drives. Dishwashers: DishDrawer lids, seals, flood sensors, drain pumps and wash motors, plus the brand's full-size models.
Washers and dryers: SmartDrive stator and sensor faults, scaled inlet valves, pump filters, dryer elements, thermal cutouts and drum supports. Cooking: wall ovens with sticking self-clean locks or failed fan elements, steam ovens with pump issues, cooktop flame-failure devices and induction boards, range igniters that click nonstop, and built-in microwave drawers that will not open.
Before you book: simple checks
On a DishDrawer, pull out the filter and clean it, and check that nothing in the drawer is standing taller than the rack and catching the lid. On a front-load washer, the pump filter behind the lower panel catches coins and hair; set a towel down before you open it.
For a refrigerator that feels warm, give it a full day with the doors closed and the vents inside clear before judging. For a gas cooktop burner that goes out when you let go of the knob, hold the knob in a few seconds longer after it lights. If it still drops out, the flame-failure device needs testing.
Weighing repair against replacement
Fisher & Paykel sits in the premium tier, and integrated pieces are sized to the cabinetry around them, which makes replacement more involved than buying a new freestanding unit. For most faults (seals, pumps, fans, sensors, igniters) repair is clearly the better value. A failed compressor on an older ActiveSmart, or a discontinued control on an early DishDrawer, is where we lay out both options honestly.
