How a Repair Visit Works
What to know about Fisher & Paykel freezers
Fisher & Paykel freezers are mainly integrated column freezers that pair with column refrigerators, along with freezer compartments in bottom-mount and French-door ActiveSmart models. Column freezers often include an ice maker and depend on sensors, fans and an adaptive defrost to hold temperature. Common faults include ice maker failures, fan motors, door alignment that breaks the seal, and frost from defrost or drain issues. Since they are panel-ready, we protect the cabinetry during service. On a visit we log temperatures, test the defrost system, sensors and fans, inspect the gasket and ice maker, and quote before beginning work.
TrueFix Las Vegas is an independent repair company, not affiliated with Fisher & Paykel. If this freezer is still under its factory warranty, contact Fisher & Paykel first.

Repairing Fisher & Paykel freezers in the Las Vegas Valley
A Fisher & Paykel freezer is usually either a freezer drawer at the base of an ActiveSmart refrigerator or a dedicated integrated column that sits beside a matching refrigerator column. Both depend on fans, sensors and an adaptive defrost system that adjusts to how often the freezer is used, so problems can build gradually.
Columns are built into cabinetry with custom panels, and the doors carry real weight. Small changes in hinge or door alignment can let warm air in, and that tends to show up as frost or ice maker trouble rather than a warm freezer, at least at first. Catching it at that stage is cheaper than waiting for ice to reach the fan.
Frost as a warning sign
In a column freezer, frost that forms around the door edge or on top items usually means warm air is getting in. A sagging panel, a twisted gasket or a door that does not close fully on its own are the usual reasons. Fixing alignment early prevents ice from reaching the fan. A hinge adjustment is a small job; a fan replacement after ice damage is not.
Frost on the back panel inside points instead to defrost or drain problems, which need a different repair.
Valley air is dry, so heavy frost here is a stronger clue than it would be in a humid climate. When it appears, something is usually letting kitchen air in or keeping defrost water from draining away.
Ice makers in column freezers
Many column freezers include an ice maker that relies on a water valve, fill tube and ejector mechanism. Hard water can scale the valve and fill tube, slowing ice production or causing small, hollow cubes.
A frozen fill tube stops ice making entirely. Clearing it without fixing the cause, such as a leaking valve or poor door seal, usually leads to a repeat.
Before you book
Check that the door or drawer closes firmly and that nothing is pushing it open. Clear items from in front of the air vents inside. Make sure the water supply to the ice maker is on if you use it.
Do not pry ice from the fan or back panel with tools. Unplug the unit or switch off its breaker before any cleaning near the grille.
Repair or replace a column freezer
Ice makers, fans, sensors, gaskets and hinge adjustments are all good-value repairs on a column freezer. Replacing a column means a new panel fitting and often cabinetry adjustments.
For freezer drawers in ActiveSmart refrigerators, the repair choice follows the whole refrigerator's condition.

Check that the ice maker is switched on in the settings and that the water supply line behind the unit is open. If the freezer is not cold enough, the ice maker may not cycle. Inlet valves can also clog with scale from hard water. If the supply is fine, the ice maker module or its fill tube may be frozen or failed.
A scraping or chattering noise often means ice has built up and is touching the fan blades, usually because of a defrost issue or a blocked drain. A worn fan motor bearing can also make noise. Avoid chipping at the ice. A technician should check the defrost system and fan to stop it from recurring.
Frost near the door edge usually means warm air is getting in. Panel-ready column doors can drift out of alignment, especially if heavy items sit in the door bins. Adjusting the hinges and checking the gasket often fixes it. We take care with custom panels so they line up with nearby cabinetry afterward.
The alarm can sound for high temperature, a door left ajar, or a sensor fault. If the temperature looks normal, check that the door closes fully and nothing blocks it. A failing temperature sensor can also trigger false alarms. Note when it happens and the message displayed when you book.
Ice absorbs odors from the freezer over time, especially if the bin is not used often. An old water filter or long periods between ice use make it worse. Empty the bin, clean it and replace the filter on schedule. If the taste continues, check for open food packages nearby.
Leave space in front of the air outlets so cold air can circulate, and avoid packing items against the back wall. In drawer freezers, keep items below the rim so the drawer closes fully. Overloading blocks airflow and can lead to uneven temperatures or frost buildup.
Yes. Integrated column doors have adjustable hinges, and panel weight can shift alignment over time. Adjusting hinges is delicate work because the panel must stay even with surrounding cabinetry. We adjust and test the seal with a paper check around the whole door.
Keep the doors closed to hold the cold. Once power returns, the freezer should restart on its own, though the control may show an alarm while it recovers. If it does not start or keeps alarming after several hours, book a repair and protect the food.
Integrated column freezers are designed for indoor kitchens and are not suited to a hot garage. ActiveSmart refrigerators with freezer drawers are also intended for indoor use. A garage installation in valley heat can cause the system to run constantly and wear out sooner. If you need garage freezing space, a separate freezer built for that setting is the better choice.
