How a Repair Visit Works
What to know about Dacor microwaves
Dacor microwaves are built-in models, most often a microwave-in-a-drawer installed below a counter or island, plus some built-in speed or convection microwave ovens. The drawer design adds parts that a regular microwave does not have: a motorized drawer mechanism, glides and a control that opens and closes the drawer. Common faults include a drawer that will not open or close, microwaves that run without heating, door or drawer switches that blow fuses, and touch controls damaged by steam. We test the drawer mechanism and the high-voltage system safely and quote before repair.
TrueFix Las Vegas is an independent repair company, not affiliated with Dacor. If this microwave is still under its factory warranty, contact Dacor first.
Where Dacor microwaves usually fail
- Microwave drawer will not open or close automatically
- Drawer glides wear and the drawer jams partway
- Microwave drawer runs but does not heat food
- Drawer switch failure blows the main fuse
- Speed oven convection mode stops heating

Repairing Dacor microwaves in the Las Vegas Valley
Dacor microwaves are almost all built-in. The most common is the microwave-in-a-drawer, installed under a counter or in an island, which opens with a touch and slides out so you load from above. Dacor also sells speed ovens that combine microwave and convection heating, usually stacked above a wall oven.
Both designs pack more into the cabinet than a countertop microwave: drawer motors, gear tracks, position sensors, convection elements and cooling fans. That means more possible causes for any symptom. We test the mechanical and electrical systems separately, confirm the model generation, since older and Samsung-era units differ, then quote the full repair before ordering parts.
How a microwave drawer moves
A drawer microwave uses a motor and gear or rack system to open and close the drawer, with sensors that tell the control where the drawer is. If the drawer meets resistance, it stops or reverses, much like a garage door.
Spills that run over the front edge or into the side tracks can make the drawer drag. Heavy dishes placed on the open drawer also strain the glides. Both conditions can lead to slow movement, stalls or noise.
Speed ovens and their extra parts
A Dacor speed oven adds a convection element and fan to the microwave system, allowing it to bake, roast and brown. If microwave heating works but convection does not, the element, fan or relay is usually responsible.
Because speed ovens sit in a wall stack, they also depend on cooling airflow through vents around the trim. Blocked vents can lead to shutdowns or erratic controls.
Safe checks on a drawer or speed oven
Look for debris in the drawer tracks and wipe spills from the edge and sides. Make sure the control lock is off. If the microwave stopped after a power interruption, try switching the breaker off for a minute and back on.
Do not force a stuck drawer, and never remove panels. Microwaves contain high-voltage parts that can hold a charge even when unplugged.
Repair decisions for built-in microwaves
Replacing a built-in microwave means matching the cutout, trim and finish, so repairs are usually worth considering. Drawer motors, gears, sensors, switches, convection parts and high-voltage components can often be replaced.
If a control or drawer part is discontinued, we explain whether a current model will fit the same opening. We quote both paths before you decide.

Turn off the breaker for a minute to reset the control, then try again. Check that nothing is jammed inside or in front of the drawer. If it still will not open, the drawer motor, gear, glides or control may have failed. Do not force it, since that can damage the mechanism.
No heating usually means a fault in the high-voltage system: magnetron, diode, capacitor or a door switch. These parts hold dangerous voltage even when unplugged. We safely discharge and test them one by one to find the cause before quoting a repair, so you are not paying for guesswork.
Usually yes. Replacing a microwave drawer means matching the cabinet opening and trim, and a new unit costs significantly more than most repairs. Drawer mechanisms, switches and high-voltage parts are serviceable. We confirm part availability and lead time before you commit to the repair.
Wipe spills and crumbs off the drawer glides and edges, and avoid pushing or pulling the drawer by hand while the motor is running. Do not overload it with heavy dishes beyond what the manual specifies. Keeping the area clear helps prevent jams.
A drawer that opens without being touched usually has a faulty touch control, a sensor that misreads the drawer position, or moisture affecting the control panel. Turn off the breaker briefly to reset it, and keep steam from a pot below away from the control face. If it continues, we test the control and position sensors, since a drawer that opens on its own can also close on a hand.
Debris in the tracks, worn glides or a weak motor can slow the drawer. The safety system may also stop it if it senses resistance. Clean the tracks and avoid leaning on the drawer. If it still stalls, the motor, gears or sensors need testing.
A speed oven can bake, roast and microwave, but its cavity is smaller than a full oven. Many owners use it as a second oven for side dishes and reheating. If its convection modes stop working while the microwave still heats, the convection element, fan or a relay on the control may need repair, and we test each separately.
Some repairs can be done with the drawer in place, but motor, gear and control repairs often require sliding the unit out of its cabinet. We disconnect power, protect the cabinetry and reinstall it level so the drawer moves smoothly.
Wipe it with a damp cloth and mild soap once it is cool. Avoid spraying cleaners directly into vents or the control area. Clean spills promptly so they do not run into the tracks or the front edge of the drawer. Sugary spills are the worst, because they harden and make the drawer drag.
