How a Repair Visit Works
What to know about Electrolux microwaves
Electrolux microwaves include over-the-range units, built-in drawer microwaves, and microwave sections of wall oven combinations. Drawer models open with a motorized drawer that can jam, misalign or stop responding, a problem specific to that design. Over-the-range units more often have a failed magnetron, diode or door switch, and vent fans that grow noisy. Because high-voltage parts hold a charge, we handle testing ourselves. We check door or drawer operation, test the heating circuit and controls, and give a single price before repairs.
TrueFix Las Vegas is an independent repair company, not affiliated with Electrolux. If this microwave is still under its factory warranty, contact Electrolux first.
Where Electrolux microwaves usually fail
- Microwave drawer won't open or close smoothly
- Drawer motor stalls and the unit shows a fault
- Magnetron failure leaves food cold after heating
- Door switch failure stops the microwave from starting
- Over-the-range vent fan rattles at high speed

Repairing Electrolux microwaves in the Las Vegas Valley
Electrolux microwaves come in three forms: over-the-range units with vent fans, built-in drawer models installed under counters or in islands, and the microwave section of a wall oven combination. Each one heats the same way, with a high-voltage system and a magnetron, but each installs and fails differently. The model label, usually inside the door frame or on the drawer side, tells us which.
Drawer models add a motor, gears, a track and sensors to open and close. Over-the-range models add a vent fan and lights. Combination units share a cabinet with the oven below and depend on its cooling airflow. Knowing which one you have changes almost every step of the visit, from the parts we carry to how long the job takes.
Drawer microwaves: motor and track
A drawer that hesitates, reverses, or stops partway is usually reacting to an obstruction, a worn gear or a sensor that cannot confirm position. Crumbs and spills in the track are common culprits.
Forcing the drawer can strip gears. We check the drive and sensors before replacing the motor.
Over-the-range and combination units
OTR units vent the cooktop below, so a weak fan affects the kitchen as well as the microwave. Combination units sit above a wall oven and rely on its cooling airflow, which means heat from the oven can affect the microwave controls.
Removing a combination microwave often means pulling the whole unit forward, which we plan carefully.
What you can test without tools
Test heating with a cup of water. Clean the grease filters on OTR units. For drawer models, clear the track and check that nothing is under the drawer.
Do not open the cabinet. High-voltage parts hold a charge even when unplugged. Stop using the microwave if you see sparks or smell burning.
Ordering microwave parts and weighing replacement
We discharge the capacitor, test the high-voltage system and door or drawer switches, and check fans and controls. Electrolux-specific parts, particularly for drawers and combination units, may need ordering.
One price is quoted before work. Built-in and drawer models are often worth repairing because replacements must fit the same opening.
Drawer installation quirks
Drawer microwaves sit low, often in an island, where kids, pets and mop water can reach them. Water on the floor can reach the base, and a toe kick or cabinet that has shifted can bind the drawer. We check the cabinet opening and leveling as well as the appliance, because an out-of-square opening can make a new motor fail the same way.

Drawer microwaves use a motor and rails to open. Turn off power at the breaker for a minute and restore it, which can reset the control. Check for anything blocking the drawer path. If it still won't open, the motor, gear or a sensor may need replacing, which a technician can diagnose.
If everything runs but food stays cold, the high-voltage circuit is likely at fault: the magnetron, diode or capacitor. These hold a dangerous charge, so don't attempt to open the unit. We discharge and test them safely and explain whether the repair is sensible for your model.
Built-in drawer units are installed into cabinetry and replacement can involve trim or opening size changes. Repairing drawer motors, sensors or controls is often worthwhile for that reason. If the magnetron and control have both failed, we compare costs with you before deciding.
Many over-the-range microwaves switch the vent fan on automatically when they sense heat from the cooktop below, protecting the electronics. If it runs with the cooktop off and cool, a failed thermal sensor or control may be the cause, and a test will confirm it.
Wait for power to return, then switch the breaker off for a minute and back on to reset the control. Do not pry or force the drawer, since the gears and track are easy to damage. If it still will not move with power restored, a motor, gear or position sensor fault is likely and needs testing.
Combination units share cooling airflow. If the oven below is hot and the cooling fan is weak, the microwave controls can overheat and shut down to protect themselves. It often shows up during long roasts or self-clean. We test the cooling fan, its vents and the control temperature sensors to confirm before replacing anything.
A drawer that rubs or catches is often slightly out of alignment with its opening, or one glide is worn or loaded with debris. That can also confuse the position sensor, so the drawer stops or reverses. We check the cabinet opening, the glides and the sensor alignment before replacing the motor or gears.
Most OTR models have metal grease filters on the underside that slide or clip out. Soak them in hot soapy water, rinse and dry them before reinstalling. A clogged filter strains the vent fan and reduces airflow over the cooktop, so clean them every month or two if you cook often.
Some models need the door or drawer firmly closed and a time entered before Start works. A control lock may also be active. If those are fine, a door or drawer switch may not be confirming closure. That is a common and modest repair.
