What to know about Frigidaire ovens

Frigidaire ovens, whether wall ovens or the oven section of a range, are known for a few repeat failures. On gas models the bake igniter weakens and the oven heats slowly or not at all. On electric models bake elements blister and burn out, and the temperature sensor can drift. Newer Gallery and Professional ovens with convection and Air Fry modes add a rear convection fan and element. Control boards sometimes fail after a self-clean cycle. We measure igniter current, test sensors and elements, and check the actual oven temperature before quoting.

TrueFix Las Vegas is an independent repair company, not affiliated with Frigidaire. If this oven is still under its factory warranty, contact Frigidaire first.

Where Frigidaire ovens usually fail

  • Gas bake igniter weakens and the oven heats very slowly
  • Electric bake element blisters, sparks and stops heating
  • Convection fan or Air Fry element stops working
  • Temperature sensor drift leaves dishes undercooked
  • Control board shows an error after a self-clean cycle

Frigidaire Oven · Las Vegas Valley

Repairing Frigidaire ovens in the Las Vegas Valley

Frigidaire ovens appear in two forms: built-in wall ovens, single or double, and the oven section of its freestanding and slide-in ranges. Newer Gallery models add True Convection with a third element and Air Fry, while basic models bake and broil with two elements, or with a gas bake burner under the floor and a broil burner at the top.

The control logic is shared across many models, so a lot of oven problems are really sensor or igniter problems that the board is reacting to. We test each component directly, with the oven heating, so the quote names the real failure. That saves you from paying for a board when a forty-minute preheat was really a tired igniter.

Gas and electric Frigidaire ovens fail differently

Gas ovens use a hot-surface igniter that must draw enough current to open the gas valve. As it ages, the igniter still glows but draws less, so the oven takes longer to light or never does. That is why an oven that slowly got worse over months is often an igniter.

Electric ovens depend on bake and broil elements and a relay on the board. An element can fail open without any visible damage, so we check resistance rather than relying on looks.

Uneven baking and temperature complaints

If cookies burn on the bottom rack and stay pale on top, the cause might be a sensor reading low, a convection fan that has stopped, or simply a dark pan on the lowest rack. We put a separate thermometer in the cavity and compare it with the display.

Frigidaire controls allow a small temperature offset, so a slight drift can sometimes be corrected without parts. A sensor that is far out of range or erratic should be replaced.

What owners can check

Confirm the clock is set and the oven lock is off, since some models will not bake while locked. For a gas oven, check that the cooktop burners light; if they do, gas is reaching the appliance. Look at the bake element with the oven cold for blisters or breaks.

Do not use self-clean to fix a heating problem, and do not remove the back panel with the oven connected. Shut off the breaker or unplug the range before touching any wiring.

Wall oven access and repair value

Many wall oven repairs, such as elements, sensors and igniters, are done from inside the cavity. Control board and door lock work sometimes requires sliding the oven partway out of the cabinet, which we do with protection for the trim.

Most oven parts are reasonably priced relative to the appliance. Older double wall ovens with a failed main board deserve a closer look, since the board cost can be significant; we compare that against replacement options before you commit.

Air Fry relies on the rear convection fan and, on many models, a convection element. If baking still works, those parts or their control circuit are likely at fault rather than the main bake element. Listen for the fan when the mode starts. We test the fan motor and element to confirm which one failed.

Bake elements age, and a weak spot can blister, arc and burn through, often with a bright spark or a pop. Turn the oven off at the breaker and let it cool. Do not use it until the element is replaced, since arcing can damage the wiring. The element is usually a straightforward repair.

Write down exactly what the display shows, including letters and numbers, and whether it appears at startup or during cooking. Many Frigidaire codes relate to sensors, door locks or control communication. Codes point to a circuit rather than a specific failed part, so we test that circuit on site instead of replacing parts by code alone.

A slow-heating oven usually just has a weak igniter, which is not dangerous by itself because the gas valve stays closed until the igniter gets hot enough. However, if you smell gas, hear a loud whoosh when it lights or see soot, stop using it, shut off the gas and have it checked.

Most reach a typical baking temperature in roughly 10 to 20 minutes, depending on size and whether it is gas or electric. A gas oven that has slowly drifted much longer than that often has a weakening igniter. An electric oven with only one element working will also preheat very slowly.

The lock stays engaged until the oven cools. If it remains locked once the oven is cold, the lock motor or switch may have failed, or the control may not be receiving the unlock signal. Turning off power for a minute can sometimes reset it; if not, the lock assembly needs testing.

Many Frigidaire controls allow an offset adjustment through the settings menu. It is useful for small differences. If the oven is far off or swings widely, the temperature sensor or igniter is more likely at fault and adjusting the offset will not solve it.

Check the breaker first, since wall ovens are usually on a dedicated circuit. If power is present, a failed control board, transformer or thermal fuse can leave the display dark. We test the supply at the oven before replacing any electronic part.

Air Fry uses the convection fan and element at high heat, so grease can build up on the rear panel. Use the recommended tray and clean spatter regularly. Avoid lining the oven floor with foil, which blocks airflow and can damage the finish.
