How a Repair Visit Works
What to know about Frigidaire dishwashers
Frigidaire dishwashers are mostly budget and mid-range built-ins, with Gallery and Professional models adding features such as stronger spray systems and stainless tubs. The faults we see most are clogged filters and drain pumps, a wash motor that hums but does not circulate, inlet valves that drip into the tub when the unit is off, and door latch switches that stop the cycle. Hard water deposits clog spray arm holes and leave cloudy dishes. We check the filter assembly, spray arms, pumps and heating element, run a test cycle and quote before any repair.
TrueFix Las Vegas is an independent repair company, not affiliated with Frigidaire. If this dishwasher is still under its factory warranty, contact Frigidaire first.

- Wash motor hums but water never sprays on dishes
- Inlet valve drips water into the tub while turned off

Repairing Frigidaire dishwashers in the Las Vegas Valley
Frigidaire dishwashers are among the most common built-ins in Las Vegas tract homes and apartments, partly because builders install them in volume. The entry models are simple machines with mechanical sensors, while Gallery and Professional units add stainless tubs, extra spray zones, quieter insulation and more electronics behind the control panel.
That range matters when deciding what to repair. A basic unit with a failed control may not justify the part, while a newer Gallery model with a bad pump almost always does. We open the toe kick and the door, test the components with the machine running and give you a straight answer about whether the repair is worth it.
How Frigidaire dishwashers are built
Most Frigidaire models use a two-pump arrangement: a circulation pump that moves water through the spray arms and a separate drain pump. They rely on a manual-clean filter at the bottom of the tub, which is why poor washing so often traces back to a neglected filter.
Higher-end models add a stainless tub that holds heat, a hidden heating element on some designs and additional spray arms. Those features help performance but add parts that can fail, and the access is slightly different under the tub.
Matching the symptom to a cause
Dishes that come out gritty usually mean food is recirculating through a clogged filter or a cracked spray arm. A white film on glasses points to hard water and the rinse aid supply, not a broken part.
A dishwasher that runs much longer than it used to may be waiting for water to heat because the element or thermostat has failed. Water left in the bottom after the cycle is a drain path problem, from the filter to the air gap to the garbage disposal connection.
Safe things to check yourself
Remove the lower rack, twist out the filter and rinse it. Check that the spray arms spin freely and that their holes are open. If the dishwasher drains into a disposal that was just installed, the knockout plug inside the disposal inlet may never have been removed.
Turn off the breaker before pulling the toe kick, and close the hot water valve under the sink before disconnecting anything. Do not run a dishwasher that has water leaking onto the floor.
Hard water and the long-term picture
Las Vegas tap water leaves scale on heating elements and spray arm holes, and Frigidaire models are no exception. Rinse aid, a monthly cleaner and regular filter rinsing go a long way toward keeping the machine efficient.
Pumps, valves, latches and heaters are reasonable repairs on most Frigidaire dishwashers. If the tub itself is cracked or the main control fails on an older entry-level unit, replacement is usually the better use of money, and we say so before you spend anything.

A humming sound with no spraying usually means the wash motor or its impeller is jammed by glass or debris, or the motor has failed. Turn off power to the dishwasher, remove the lower rack and filter, and look for broken glass. If nothing is blocking it, the motor assembly is the likely cause.
A small amount in the sump is normal. More than that often points to the inlet valve not closing fully, which lets water seep in while the dishwasher sits. Hard water grit can keep the valve from sealing. The fix is usually a new valve, and the water supply should be shut off if it overflows.
It helps. Pods or powders formulated for hard water, plus rinse aid, reduce white film and scale on the spray arms. Using too much detergent can leave residue too. If spray arm holes are already blocked, remove the arms and clear the holes with a toothpick, then run a dishwasher cleaner.
On most models, remove the lower rack, twist out the filter cylinder from the tub floor and lift out the flat mesh filter beneath it. Rinse both in warm water with a soft brush, then reinstall firmly. A loose filter lets debris into the pump, which can cause more expensive problems later.
White film is usually mineral scale from hard water or etching from too much detergent. Keep the rinse aid dispenser full and try a detergent formulated for hard water. If the film appears suddenly along with poor washing, a failing heater or clogged spray arm may be adding to it.
Normal cycles on newer models often run well over an hour because they use less water and wait to heat it. A cycle that has grown much longer than it used to be can mean the heater is not reaching temperature. We test the element and thermistor to confirm.
Not always. A clogged disposal inlet, a kinked drain hose or a blocked air gap can stop drainage. Run the disposal, check the hose under the sink and clean the air gap if you have one. If water still sits in the tub, we test the drain pump.
Yes. The tub gasket slides into a channel around the opening and is replaced as one piece. A torn or flattened gasket can let water drip from the door corners. We also check the door alignment, since a misaligned door can tear a new gasket quickly.
The Gallery lines often add stainless tubs, extra wash zones and more sensors, so there are more components to test. The fundamentals are the same: pumps, valves, latch and heater. Parts tend to be a bit more expensive, but the machine is usually worth repairing.
