How a Repair Visit Works
What to know about LG dishwashers
LG dishwashers are mostly front-control and top-control built-ins, many with QuadWash spray arms and TrueSteam. When an LG dishwasher fails, the trouble usually involves drainage, water supply or leak detection. An OE code points toward the drain path, IE toward the fill, and AE means the leak sensor in the base has found water. We check the filter assembly, sump, drain pump and air gap or high loop, and we look for the actual source of any leak before resetting anything. Valley hard water also leaves scale on the spray arms and heater that affects wash and dry results.
TrueFix Las Vegas is an independent repair company, not affiliated with LG. If this dishwasher is still under its factory warranty, contact LG first.
Where LG dishwashers usually fail
- OE code and dirty water left in the tub bottom
- AE leak code from water collecting in the base pan
- IE code from a clogged inlet valve screen or low supply
- Spray arms blocked by scale or food, leaving dishes gritty
- Dishes coming out wet after a heater or vent fault

Repairing LG dishwashers in the Las Vegas Valley
LG dishwashers use a direct-drive wash motor and, on many models, the QuadWash system with multi-motion spray arms. Several also offer TrueSteam and Dynamic Dry, which opens the door slightly at the end of the cycle. These features clean well when the water path is clear, but they are sensitive to a clogged filter, a scaled spray arm or a weak inlet flow.
The valley's hard water is the background to many LG dishwasher calls. Scale builds on spray arm nozzles, the heater and the inlet valve screen, and it shows up as cloudy glasses, gritty residue and longer cycles. We look at water quality along with the parts, then give one price for the repair.
How an LG dishwasher tells you what is wrong
LG models report faults with short codes on the control panel. We use them as a starting point, then verify the part with a meter or by watching the cycle with the door open in service mode where available. A drain code, for example, may come from the pump, a clogged filter, a kinked hose or an air gap packed with food.
Some LG dishwashers also support a sound-based Smart Diagnosis feature or app diagnostics. That can help narrow a problem, but it does not replace an inspection of the hoses and sump.
Spray arms, scale and wash quality
QuadWash arms have extra moving parts in the middle and lower arms. When scale or food blocks a nozzle or a gear, the arm may still turn but cover less of the rack. Removing and soaking the arms in a citric acid solution often restores wash quality. A cracked arm or worn gear set needs replacement.
Rinse aid and a dishwasher cleaner made for hard water make a visible difference in a valley kitchen. They are cheaper than repairs and reduce heater scaling.
Before you book an LG dishwasher repair
Twist out the cylindrical filter in the tub floor and rinse it under the tap. Check that the spray arms spin freely by hand. Confirm the garbage disposal is clear if the dishwasher drains through it, and that the knockout plug was removed if the disposal is new.
If water is on the floor, turn off the dishwasher's water supply under the sink and switch off its breaker before you dry the base. Do not tilt the dishwasher forward to drain the base pan yourself while it is still connected.
Repair or replace on an LG
Drain pumps, inlet valves, filters, door latches and spray arm assemblies are routine repairs. A failed wash motor or main board costs more but is still worth doing on many mid-range LG units. A tub leak from a cracked sump, or an older unit with rusted racks and worn door hinges, is where we usually suggest weighing a replacement.

AE means the float in the base pan has detected water, so the dishwasher stops to protect your floor. Stop using it, turn off power at the breaker, and shut off the water valve under the sink. The source can be a door seal, a cracked hose, the sump or simply oversudsing from regular dish soap. We find the leak before clearing the base pan.
LG uses a manual filter at the bottom of the tub that you twist out. Cleaning it every couple of weeks, or whenever you notice grit on dishes, prevents many drain problems. Rinse the fine mesh and the cylinder under the tap without harsh scrubbing. If draining stays slow with a clean filter, the drain pump or hose needs checking.
Cloudiness usually comes from hard water minerals left behind as the dishes dry, not from a faulty dishwasher. Keeping the rinse aid dispenser full and occasionally running an empty cycle with a dishwasher descaler helps. If etching appears together with poor cleaning, we check the heater, spray arms and water temperature, since a weak wash makes residue worse.
Yes. The drain hose needs a high loop or an air gap so dirty water cannot siphon back from the sink, and a new garbage disposal sometimes still has its knockout plug in place, blocking the drain. A kinked hose behind the unit also causes OE codes. We check the installation before assuming a part has failed.
QuadWash refers to LG's multi-motion spray arms, which rotate and also swing in a pattern to reach more of the rack. They do not fail often, but they have small gears and extra openings that clog in hard water. When cleaning drops off, removing and descaling the arms is a reasonable first step before assuming a pump or motor problem.
On models with Dynamic Dry or auto-open drying, the door is designed to release slightly near the end to let steam out and improve drying. That is normal. If the door opens during washing, or will not latch at the start of a cycle, the latch or the door release mechanism may need attention.
No. Hand dish soap foams heavily, and in a dishwasher the suds can overflow the tub, trip the leak sensor and confuse the water level system. If it has already happened, stop the cycle, scoop out the suds, run a rinse with a little vegetable oil or a small amount of white vinegar, and let it dry before normal use.
Most repairs such as a drain pump, inlet valve or latch take about an hour or two once parts are on hand. Parts that we do not carry are ordered, which adds time between the diagnosis and the repair. A job that requires pulling the dishwasher out from the cabinet, such as a sump or wash motor, takes longer.
Steam cycles heat water to a higher temperature, which can make scale form faster on the heater and inside the tub. Using rinse aid, running a descaling cleaner periodically and keeping the filter clean all help. If you see white crust building on the tub floor or the heater area, descaling now is easier than treating heavy buildup later.
