How a Repair Visit Works
What to know about Kenmore dishwashers
Kenmore dishwashers have been built by several makers, and many recent Kenmore and Elite models come from Whirlpool, with others from Frigidaire or LG. Models with TurboZone or the 360 PowerWash spray arm need those spray assemblies clear and seated to clean properly. We frequently see clogged filters, failed wash or drain pumps, cracked spray arm hubs, inlet valves crusted with scale, and door latch or float switch issues. On a visit we identify the maker from the model number, run the service diagnostic cycle, and check the pumps, valve and float before providing a single price for the repair.
TrueFix Las Vegas is an independent repair company, not affiliated with Kenmore. If this dishwasher is still under its factory warranty, contact Kenmore first.

- Upper rack dishes dirty while bottom rack comes out clean
- Float switch stuck, so the dishwasher will not fill
- Wash motor hums but water does not spray

Repairing Kenmore dishwashers in the Las Vegas Valley
Many Kenmore and Kenmore Elite dishwashers carry a 665 prefix, which usually means Whirlpool built them, while 587 often points to Frigidaire. Some later Elite units were LG-built. The wash system, filter design and controls change with the maker, so a cleaning complaint on one Kenmore may come from a clogged filter, while on another it may come from a failed wash motor.
Valley hard water also plays a big role. Scale collects on the spray arms, the heater, the inlet valve and the float, and it slowly changes how the dishwasher fills, washes and dries. We check the parts and the effect of water quality, then give one price for the repair.
Filters and spray arms across Kenmore platforms
Older Whirlpool-built Kenmore dishwashers often used a self-cleaning hard-food chopper, while newer ones use a removable filter that needs regular rinsing. Owners moving from an older unit to a newer one sometimes do not know the filter is there. A packed filter causes gritty dishes, odors and slow draining.
Kenmore Elite models with a dedicated upper-rack wash zone or a rotating middle spray arm depend on clear water paths to those zones. A cracked hub or a blocked nozzle can reduce cleaning in just one rack.
Fill problems and the float
If a Kenmore dishwasher runs but sounds dry, the inlet valve, the float switch or the water supply may be the cause. A float stuck in the up position tells the control the tub is full. Scale or debris around the float is common. We check the float, the inlet valve screen and the supply line together.
What owners can do safely
Remove and rinse the filter, if your model has one. Check that the float in the tub floor moves freely. Run hot water at the kitchen sink before starting a cycle so the dishwasher fills with hot water. If the dishwasher drains through the disposal, run the disposal first.
Turn off the breaker and the water supply under the sink before pulling the toe kick or looking underneath. Do not run the dishwasher if water is leaking from under the door.
When repair makes sense
Inlet valves, floats, drain pumps, latches and spray arms are typical repairs that are usually worth doing. A wash motor or control board costs more. On an older Kenmore with a rusted rack, a cracked tub or a worn door, replacing the dishwasher may be the better long-term choice, and we will help you weigh it.

The upper spray arm is fed through a tube from the lower pump. If the tube is disconnected, the arm is cracked, or the filter is clogged, upper-rack pressure drops first. Check that the rack's water connection lines up with the feed port when pushed in, and clean the filter. If pressure is still weak, the wash pump may be failing.
Yes. The float is a small dome in the front corner of the tub floor. If debris holds it up, the dishwasher thinks it is full and will not fill. Lift it gently to see that it moves freely. If it does, the inlet valve may be clogged with scale or failed. Hard water in the valley is a common contributor to that.
That usually points to the water inlet valve not sealing fully. Mineral deposits can keep the valve from closing. Over time it can overfill the tub or cause leaks. Turn off the water supply under the sink if the leak is significant. The valve is a common, relatively quick replacement.
Drain pumps are usually straightforward. Wash pump or circulation motor replacement is more involved and requires pulling the unit out on some models. The cost difference between the two is meaningful, so we test which pump is actually failing first. On an older dishwasher with other wear, we will tell you if replacement is the better choice.
Many newer models do. It is usually a cylinder or flat screen in the floor of the tub, under the lower spray arm, that twists out by hand. Older models sometimes used a self-cleaning chopper instead. Check your manual or the tub floor. If you find a filter, rinsing it every few weeks helps cleaning and draining.
Mineral deposits collect wherever water sits or sprays: nozzles, the float, the heater and the inlet valve screen. Cleaning gets weaker, glasses turn cloudy and parts can stick. Rinse aid, a detergent suited to hard water and occasional descaling help a great deal. A whole-home softener reduces the problem further, but even then occasional cleaning is useful.
Many Kenmore models signal a fault with beeps or flashing lights rather than a written code. The pattern points to a circuit, such as fill, drain or heat. Count the flashes or note the lights before resetting. Turning the breaker off for a minute may clear it, but if it returns, a part is likely failing.
Odors usually come from food trapped in the filter, the sump or the drain hose, or from water standing in the tub between uses. Clean the filter, wipe the door gasket and the lower door edge, and run a hot cycle with a dishwasher cleaner. If water stays in the bottom after a cycle, the drain needs attention.
Yes. Most Kenmore dishwashers are serviced using the maker's parts and diagnostic approach. A Whirlpool-built Kenmore uses many Whirlpool parts, and a Frigidaire-built one uses Frigidaire parts. Knowing the maker from the model number lets us bring the correct parts and avoid ordering mistakes.
