How a Repair Visit Works
What to know about Roper dishwashers
Roper dishwashers are simple built-in models with basic controls and a plastic tub, often found in apartments and rentals. The most common problems are a dishwasher that doesn't drain because the drain pump or check valve is clogged, poor cleaning from a blocked filter or spray arm, and leaks from a worn door gasket. Some models use a manual-clean filter that is easy to overlook. We clear and inspect the drain path, test the pump, inlet valve and latch, and give one price, plus an honest view on whether to repair.
TrueFix Las Vegas is an independent repair company, not affiliated with Roper. If this dishwasher is still under its factory warranty, contact Roper first.

Repairing Roper dishwashers in the Las Vegas Valley
Roper dishwashers are simple Whirlpool-built machines with a plastic tub, basic button controls and a short list of parts: a combined wash and drain system, an inlet valve, a float, a heater and a door latch. Many newer models use a removable filter that must be cleaned by hand, which is easy to forget in a busy household or a rental.
Valley hard water also leaves scale on the spray arms and filter, which reduces cleaning over time and makes the small pump work harder. We start at the sump and filter, follow the water out through the pump and hose, then check fill and latch, and the quote covers the whole fix. You also get an honest view on whether a basic unit is worth the money or due for replacement.
The filter nobody told you about
Many Roper dishwashers made in recent years use a two-part filter under the lower spray arm. If it is never cleaned, food builds up, dishes come out gritty and the dishwasher drains slowly or smells. It is a common reason for a service call, and it takes only minutes to clean.
Older Roper models used a different filter design with a food chopper, so tenants moving between units may not know which type they have.
Installation details that cause problems
A drain hose without a high loop or air gap can let dirty water from the sink flow back into the dishwasher. A new garbage disposal with its knockout plug still in place will stop the dishwasher from draining. These installation issues are worth checking before replacing parts.
Checks before booking
Remove and rinse the filter. Check that the spray arms spin freely and are not blocked by a utensil. Run the garbage disposal before starting the dishwasher. Make sure the door closes and latches cleanly.
Puddles under the door call for power and water off first: flip the breaker, close the valve under the sink, then mop or remove the lower panel.
Repair or replace a Roper dishwasher
Filters, spray arms, inlet valves, latches and drain pumps are inexpensive repairs and usually worth doing. A failed wash motor, a cracked tub or a control board on an older Roper may cost more than the dishwasher is worth. For landlords, we can explain which repairs make sense for the remaining life of the unit.

Many Roper dishwashers use a manual-clean filter that needs attention every month or so. Remove the lower rack, twist out the filter and rinse it under the tap. A clogged filter leads to poor cleaning and drainage problems, and cleaning it often solves both.
A worn or misaligned door gasket is a common cause, along with using the wrong detergent, which can create excess suds. Check that the dishwasher is level and the gasket isn't torn. If water comes from underneath, a hose or pump seal may be leaking.
Confirm the water valve under the sink is open and the door latches firmly. If both are fine, the inlet valve may have failed or its screen may be clogged with mineral deposits, common with hard water. A technician can test the valve and its power supply.
Pumps, latches and inlet valves are inexpensive repairs that keep a Roper running. If the tub is cracked or the unit leaks from several places, replacement is usually better. We give property owners a straightforward recommendation after diagnosing the actual fault.
A gritty film often comes from a dirty filter recirculating food particles, or from hard water deposits. Clean the filter, use rinse aid and run a cleaning cycle with a dishwasher cleaner. If the film is white and powdery, it may be detergent that did not dissolve, which can point to low water temperature or a weak spray.
Running the hot water at the sink until it is hot before starting the dishwasher helps it fill with hot water from the start. That improves cleaning and drying, especially on basic models without a strong heater. Make sure your water heater is set to a safe temperature.
Basic Roper dishwashers dry with a heated element or by condensation, depending on the model. Using rinse aid helps a lot. Plastic items naturally stay wetter. If the heated dry option is selected and the dishes are still very wet, the heater or its control may have failed and should be tested.
Food trapped in the filter or standing water in the sump causes odors. Clean the filter, run a hot cycle with a cleaner and leave the door slightly open between uses. If water stays in the bottom of the tub after a cycle, the drain needs attention.
Many modern dishwashers run for well over an hour on a normal cycle, because they use less water and heat it slowly. Longer cycles are normal. A cycle that never ends, or one that stops early, can point to a heating, fill or control problem. Note where in the cycle it stops.
