How a Repair Visit Works
What to know about ASKO dishwashers
ASKO dishwashers are built-in models with stainless interiors and racks, known for quiet running and strong cleaning. Many include a leak protection system with a float switch in the base: if water collects there, the dishwasher stops filling and runs the drain pump, usually with an error indication. The cause can be a small leak from a door seal, hose or pump, or excess foam from the wrong detergent. Hard water also leaves scale on the heater and spray arms. A visit includes finding the leak source, cleaning the filter, checking the drain pump and inlet valve, and testing the heater.
TrueFix Las Vegas is an independent repair company, not affiliated with ASKO. If this dishwasher is still under its factory warranty, contact ASKO first.

- Leak protection triggered by water in the base pan
- Drain pump running constantly after a small leak
- Scale on the heater and spray arms from hard water
- Door seal leaking at the bottom corners
- Filter clogged so dishes come out gritty

Repairing ASKO dishwashers in the Las Vegas Valley
ASKO dishwashers are Swedish built-ins with stainless interiors, and they are known for running quietly and cleaning hard. Many models carry a leak protection system: a pan in the base with a float switch. If water reaches that pan, the dishwasher stops filling, runs its drain pump and shows a warning, which protects the floor but makes a small drip look like a dead machine.
So on most ASKO calls our first job is to find the water. A worn door seal, a loose hose clamp, a weeping pump or simply too much foam can all put water in the base. We trace it to the source, fix that, dry the pan and run a full cycle to prove the dishwasher stays dry before we leave.
When the leak protection trips
The float does not care where water came from. A hairline crack in a hose, a door gasket that has hardened at the lower corners, a spray arm knocking water past the door, or suds from hand dish soap can all fill the pan. Tipping the dishwasher during cleaning can also slosh water into it.
Drying the pan clears the warning, but the warning comes back if the source is still there. We remove the lower panel, look for water tracks and mineral trails, and run the dishwasher with the base visible so the leak shows itself.
Scale, softening and Las Vegas water
Stainless tubs and spray arms resist staining, but valley water still leaves calcium in the jets, on the heater and in the valves. Owners see a white film on glasses, gritty residue on the tub floor and slower heating. Some ASKO models include a built-in softener with a salt reservoir; when the salt runs out or the hardness setting is wrong, scale builds quickly.
We check the softener setting and salt level where fitted, clear blocked jets, and test the heater and fill. On a home with a whole-house softener, we adjust the dishwasher setting so detergent does not etch glassware instead.
Filters, draining and odors
ASKO dishwashers rely on a filter set at the bottom of the tub. When it clogs, wash water stays dirty, food is redeposited on dishes and drainage slows. Odors often start here as well.
If the filters are clean and water still stands, the drain pump, a check valve or the drain hose loop under the sink is the next stop. We test the pump and clear the path.
Checks before the visit, and the limits
Clean the filters, use only dishwasher detergent, and look at the drain hose and air gap under the sink. If leak protection has tripped, turn off the dishwasher at the breaker and close the water supply valve before you book.
Do not tilt or rock the dishwasher to empty the base, and do not remove the lower panel with power on. Avoid running cycles repeatedly to clear the warning, since that can push more water into the base.
Repair value on a premium European dishwasher
ASKO dishwashers are built to last and are usually worth repairing. Door seals, hoses, pumps, heaters, valves, floats and sensors are all practical repairs. If several major parts fail at once on an older unit, we will lay the two options side by side.

That is usually the leak protection system. A float switch in the base detects water and stops the cycle while the pump drains. Turn off power and water, then look for leaks around the door and under the unit. Excess suds from the wrong detergent can also trigger it. The source must be found, or the problem will return.
The filter sits at the bottom of the tub. Turn it to unlock, lift it out and rinse it under warm water with a soft brush. Check the area below for broken glass or seeds. Clean it monthly, or more often if dishes go in with heavy food residue. A clogged filter causes poor cleaning and slow draining.
Hard water leaves mineral deposits on dishes and inside the tub. Use rinse aid and a detergent designed for hard water, and run a descaling cycle periodically. If your model has a water hardness setting, set it to match local water. Too much detergent can also leave a film, so measure carefully.
Usually, yes. The door seal, the lower seal, or the hinges and springs may be the cause. A worn seal is replaced, and a misaligned door is adjusted. Leaks can also come from overloading or a spray arm aimed at the door by a misplaced item. We check those before replacing parts.
Only if your model has a built-in water softener with a salt reservoir, usually found under the lower rack. If it does, set the water hardness correctly and keep the reservoir filled with dishwasher salt, not table salt. In Las Vegas, a softener setting that is too low lets scale build up quickly. Check your manual or ask us during the visit.
You can turn off the power and water and wipe up visible water, but the base pan is hidden and often still holds water. Even if the warning clears, the leak that caused it is still there. Repeatedly resetting it without fixing the source can lead to more water in the base or damage to flooring. Book a visit to find the leak.
Etching is permanent cloudiness or rainbow marks on glass, usually caused by soft water combined with too much detergent or high heat. It can happen if a home softener is installed and the dishwasher is still set for hard water. Reduce detergent, check the softener setting and avoid very hot cycles for delicate glassware.
Check them every couple of weeks and clean them whenever you see debris, odor or gritty dishes. Homes that do not scrape plates or run the dishwasher daily may need to clean more often. Twist out the filters, rinse them under warm water with a soft brush, and reinstall them firmly so they seal.
Regular dish soap makes too much foam. Foam can leak past the door seal, trigger the leak protection, and make the dishwasher stop or drain repeatedly. If it happens, stop the cycle, remove as much foam as possible with towels, and start a short rinse with the dishwasher shut. Use dishwasher detergent only.
