What to know about GE Appliances ranges
GE ranges span freestanding, slide-in and dual-fuel models in the GE, Profile and Café lines, many with convection, air fry modes and Wi-Fi controls. Because a range combines a cooktop and oven sharing one control system, we look at the whole unit: surface burners or elements, the bake and broil circuits, convection fan, door lock and the main board or display. Common faults include a convection fan that grinds, a range that loses its display after a power surge and a gas oven that lights slowly. We diagnose both halves and give one price.
TrueFix Las Vegas is an independent repair company, not affiliated with GE Appliances. If this range is still under its factory warranty, contact GE Appliances first.

- Display goes blank after a power surge or brief outage
- Dual-fuel range oven heats unevenly from a failing element
- Slide-in range surface burner won't light reliably

Repairing GE Appliances ranges in the Las Vegas Valley
A modern GE range is really three systems sharing a cabinet: a cooktop on top, an oven below and a control board that links them, often with Wi-Fi and modes such as convection and air fry. When one part fails, it can affect the others, and a single loose connection can switch off features that seem unrelated.
That is why we diagnose the whole range rather than only the symptom you noticed first. A failed board can look like a dead element, and a power problem can look like a failed board. Checking the full unit takes a few extra minutes, and it keeps you from paying for a part that was never the cause.
Slide-in versus freestanding GE ranges
Slide-in ranges sit flush with the counter and have controls on the front. They must be pulled out to reach wiring, gas and some parts, and the cabinet edges are close, so the move takes care. Freestanding ranges have a backguard and are easier to slide.
Café models with custom hardware and larger widths are heavy. We use floor protection and plan for the move rather than rushing it.
Dual-fuel diagnosis
On a dual-fuel range the cooktop burns gas while the oven heats with electric elements. That means the range needs both a gas connection and a full electric circuit. If the cooktop works and the oven does not, the oven circuit and the second leg of the power supply are the first things we check.
Many owners do not realize a breaker can trip only one leg, leaving the cooktop and display working.
All-gas GE ranges are simpler: the display needs only a standard outlet, and both the burners and the oven run on gas. A slow-lighting oven on one of those usually comes back to the igniter.
Simple owner steps
Check the breaker and reset it fully if needed. If the display is blank after a storm, turn the breaker off for a minute and back on. Note any code on the display and which features still work.
Do not pull a gas range out yourself to look at the connection, and turn off the gas if you smell it.
When a GE range is worth fixing
Elements, igniters, sensors, fans and switches are fair repairs on most GE ranges. Main control boards can be costly, but on a Profile or Café range they usually still make sense.
On an entry-level model with multiple failures, we will give you the full repair price and an honest view of replacement.

Not always. Turn off the range breaker for several minutes and restore power, which can clear a locked control. If the display stays dark, check whether the burners still work. Summer monsoon storms bring surges, and a damaged control board or transformer can result, which we can test and replace.
A grinding or rattling sound when convection runs usually comes from the convection fan motor bearings or a fan blade loosened on its shaft. Turning convection off may let you keep baking. Replacing the motor or blade is a common repair that we can usually complete in one visit if the part is on hand.
A dual-fuel range has gas burners on top and an electric oven below, so it needs both a gas supply and a 240-volt circuit. We test each system separately. Oven faults are electrical, like elements and sensors, while cooktop faults are gas related, like igniters and valves.
Many repairs, including oven elements, igniters and sensors, are reached from inside the oven or from the top. Board and wiring work may require sliding the range forward, which we do carefully to protect the countertop edges and floor. We explain beforehand if moving the range is necessary.
Air fry on GE ranges uses the convection system, a rear fan and heating element, to move very hot air over food. If air fry results suddenly get worse, the convection fan or element may be weakening. Using the recommended tray and rack position also affects results, so check the manual before assuming a fault.
No. The oven should cook normally from its own controls even when the Wi-Fi connection drops. Connection problems are usually about the home network, router changes or the app account. If the range itself stops responding, that is a control issue rather than a network one.
Some GE ranges include a warming drawer with its own element and control, separate from the oven. If the oven works and the drawer does not, the drawer element, its switch or thermostat may have failed. Some ranges have a storage drawer instead, so check the model before assuming a fault.
Yes. A burner that lights and goes out often has a misaligned cap, clogged ports or a weak gas supply to that burner. On some higher-end models with flame sensing, a sensor fault can also shut the burner off. We clean, test and adjust before replacing parts.
We switch off power at the breaker or unplug the range before working inside it, and shut off gas when we touch gas parts. You do not need to do this before we arrive, but clearing the area in front of the range and the countertop next to it helps.
