How a Repair Visit Works
What to know about Avanti ranges
An Avanti range combines a compact cooktop and oven in a 20 or 24 inch body, in gas or electric versions, and is designed for tight kitchens in apartments, casitas and small homes. Because everything shares one compact chassis, heat from the oven affects nearby parts, and wiring, switches and terminals see more stress than in a full-size range. Common repairs include coil elements and their receptacles, oven bake elements, gas oven igniters, thermostats, and door hinges and springs. We test the oven and cooktop sides, check the power or gas connection, and give one price before repair.
TrueFix Las Vegas is an independent repair company, not affiliated with Avanti. If this range is still under its factory warranty, contact Avanti first.

Repairing Avanti ranges in the Las Vegas Valley
Avanti ranges are built for kitchens where space is tight: casitas, studios, condos near UNLV and apartment complexes. Most are 20 or 24 inches wide, in gas or electric, with a full cooktop above a small oven and simple dial or basic digital controls. Many have been in service for years.
A range call covers the whole appliance. In a narrow chassis, one fault can affect both halves, and a burned wire at the back can make the oven and the cooktop act up at the same time. We look at the unit as a system before naming any part, then give you one price for the full repair.
What is packed inside a 20-inch range
On electric models, the supply connects at a terminal block on the back, then runs to infinite switches for each coil, a selector switch for the oven and a thermostat with a sensing bulb. Every one of those parts sits within a few inches of the oven cavity.
Gas models add a pressure regulator, a safety valve for the oven and a glow-bar igniter or pilot system. The regulator setting must match the gas type, so a range moved from a propane casita to a natural gas kitchen needs to be checked.
Faults that cross both halves
If nothing works on an electric Avanti range, check both breakers first, then the cord and terminal block. A burned terminal at the back is a common cause on ranges that have been pushed hard against the wall.
On gas ranges, burners that light while the oven does not usually point to the oven igniter or safety valve. If burners and oven both fail, the supply or regulator is more likely.
Owner checks before booking
Confirm the range is plugged in or the breaker is on, and that the gas valve behind it is open. Note whether the oven, the cooktop or both are affected. Check that the anti-tip bracket is installed, since lightweight compact ranges can tip forward when the oven door is used as a step or shelf.
Turn off power and gas before sliding the range out, and do not try to adjust the regulator or a gas orifice yourself.
Value of repairing a compact range
Elements, igniters, thermostats, switches and door parts are usually economical, and repairing them keeps a range that fits the existing space. Exact-width replacements are not always easy to find.
If the oven liner is rusted through, the control is obsolete or several parts have failed at once, replacement may be smarter. We price both paths so you can choose.

Compact ranges are light, so weight on an open oven door, from a child climbing or a heavy roasting pan, can tip the whole range forward along with hot food. The anti-tip bracket anchors the back leg to the floor or wall. Many units in rentals were installed without one, and we check it during every visit.
On electric ranges, check whether only one element or all are dead. A single element usually means the element, its receptacle or its switch. If every surface element is dead but the oven works, a wiring connection or one leg of the power supply may be the problem. Turn off power before inspecting anything.
Many repairs are, including elements, igniters, switches, thermostats and door hinges. If a range has rust through the oven floor or multiple failed parts, replacement often makes more sense. We look at the overall condition along with the reported fault and give an honest recommendation.
The model and serial number help most. They are on a label usually found inside the storage drawer, on the frame behind the oven door, or on the back. Tell us whether it is gas or electric and describe the symptom. That helps the technician come prepared with the right parts.
Yes. Burner orifices and the regulator are set for one gas type. Running a range set for propane on natural gas, or the reverse, can produce weak or dangerous flames. We confirm the setting and install the correct conversion parts if your model supports it. Do not use the range until the gas type has been verified.
Turn off the breaker and stop using the range. That smell often comes from an overheating terminal block or wire where the power cord connects. It can also be a melted knob or control part near the oven vent. We inspect the wiring, replace damaged parts and check the cord connection.
Usually it is a stuck door switch or a light switch left on. A light that never turns off can add heat to the oven and wear out bulbs quickly. The door switch can be tested and replaced if needed, and it is a minor repair.
If your range has a storage drawer under the oven, it can hold pans and sheets. Avoid storing plastic or flammable items there, since the area can get warm. On some models, the drawer may be a broiler, so check the manual.
If the oven runs noticeably hotter or cooler than the dial setting, or the temperature swings widely, the thermostat may be faulty. Use an oven thermometer on the center rack and compare after twenty minutes. We test the thermostat and check that its sensing bulb is clipped in place before replacing anything, since a loose bulb gives the same symptoms.
