How a Repair Visit Works
What to know about Roper ranges
Roper ranges are 30-inch freestanding models in electric coil or gas, with straightforward mechanical controls and, on some units, a basic electronic clock. Because the controls are simple, a range repair usually comes down to finding which circuit failed: surface burners, bake, broil or ignition. Common jobs include replacing bake elements, gas igniters, infinite switches and oven thermostats. We test each circuit, check the oven temperature against the dial and quote one price. Roper parts are widely available, so many repairs can be completed in a single visit.
TrueFix Las Vegas is an independent repair company, not affiliated with Roper. If this range is still under its factory warranty, contact Roper first.
Where Roper ranges usually fail
- Oven heats but surface burners stay cold
- Electronic clock fails and oven won't start a cycle
- Broil works while bake shows no heat at all
- Gas burner flame burns yellow from poor air mixture
- Anti-tip bracket missing after the range was moved

Repairing Roper ranges in the Las Vegas Valley
A Roper range is a 30-inch freestanding unit that combines a coil or gas top, an oven and a few simple controls in one cabinet. Because those parts share power, a symptom can point to several places. A range where neither the oven nor the burners work may have a supply problem, while one where only bake fails points to the oven's own circuit.
We approach a Roper range circuit by circuit. Surface burners, bake, broil, the clock or timer and the oven light each have their own path. Testing them in order tells us whether one part has failed or something shared, like a cord or terminal block, is at fault. You get one price before we begin.
Shared power and partial failures
Electric Roper ranges use a heavy power cord and a terminal block at the back. If one leg of power is lost, some burners or the oven may work while others do not. That can come from a tripped breaker, a burned terminal block or a damaged cord. Checking the supply first avoids replacing parts that are not at fault.
Gas Roper ranges need standard household power for the clock, light and igniter, and gas for the burners and oven.
Clocks and basic electronic controls
Some Roper ranges have a simple electronic clock that controls bake and broil. If the clock goes blank or locks up, the oven may not start. A power reset can clear a frozen display. If it does not, the control may need replacement, which is usually a modest repair.
Things to try before calling
Check both halves of the breaker for an electric range. Reset the clock by switching the breaker off for a minute. Make sure the oven is not set to a delayed start. On gas ranges, confirm the gas valve behind the range is open.
Do not remove the back panel or handle the terminal block. Range wiring carries high current.
Repair outlook for Roper ranges
Elements, switches, igniters, thermostats, clocks and terminal blocks are inexpensive and usually worth replacing. A Roper range is a low-cost appliance, so on an older unit with rust, a cracked top or several failing systems, a replacement may be the better use of money. We will give you an honest view.
After any repair that involves moving the range, we make sure the anti-tip bracket is engaged.

Surface burners and the oven have separate circuits. If the oven heats but burners are dead, a shared fuse, terminal block or a common wiring connection could be the cause. If only one burner fails, its element or switch is the likely suspect.
Gas flames should be mostly blue. Yellow or lazy flames suggest poor air mixture, clogged burner ports or a misaligned burner. Clean the ports and check the caps. If flames stay yellow, have the burner adjusted, because poor combustion can produce soot and carbon monoxide.
Yes. Freestanding ranges can tip forward if weight is placed on an open door, especially if a child climbs on it. The anti-tip bracket attaches to the floor or wall and catches the rear leg. If your range was moved and the bracket is missing, have one installed.
On models with an electronic clock, the control often runs the oven. A dead display may mean the clock or control has failed, or there's a power issue. Reset the breaker first. If the display stays blank, a control or wiring test is needed.
When some burners or the oven work and others do not, the range may be getting only half its power. A breaker tripped on one side, a burned terminal block or a damaged cord are common causes. If everything uses power but one part fails, that part's switch or element is more likely. We check the supply first.
Where a Roper has a digital clock, a delayed start tells the oven to wait and begin heating at a set time. If it was set by accident, the oven may seem dead. Cancel or clear the timer and try again. If the clock does not respond, a reset at the breaker may help.
Electric Roper ranges need a dedicated high-voltage range outlet and circuit. Gas Roper ranges use a standard household outlet for the clock, light and ignition, plus a gas connection. If a range was replaced recently and does not work properly, the outlet, cord or gas connection should be checked.
Yes. A range that tips forward under load may not have its anti-tip bracket engaged. That is a safety risk, especially with children. The bracket should hold the rear leg in place. We check and reinstall it during service, or you can have it checked any time the range is moved.
A blank clock may be from a tripped breaker, a power surge or a failed control. Turn the breaker off for a minute and back on. If the clock stays blank and the oven will not work, the control or its wiring may need testing. On some models, the oven will still work without the clock.
