How a Repair Visit Works
What to know about Maytag ranges
Maytag ranges are sold as freestanding, slide-in and front-control models in gas, electric and dual-fuel-style configurations, many with features like Power Preheat, an air fryer mode or convection. Because a range combines a cooktop, an oven and a shared electronic control, we diagnose the unit as a whole. Common faults include a failed oven igniter or element, a control board that loses the display or misreads keypad presses, a temperature sensor out of spec, and a locked door after self-clean. On a visit we review error codes and test the control inputs, sensor, igniters and elements before quoting.
TrueFix Las Vegas is an independent repair company, not affiliated with Maytag. If this range is still under its factory warranty, contact Maytag first.

- Display shows an error code and the oven will not heat
- Keypad buttons stop responding or register wrong presses
- Slide-in range rocks because leveling legs are uneven
- Air fryer or convection mode cooks unevenly
- Range loses power to both oven and burners

Repairing Maytag ranges in the Las Vegas Valley
A Maytag range is a single appliance with a shared brain. On current freestanding, slide-in and front-control models, one electronic control reads the keypad, runs the oven, monitors the sensor and, on electric models, may switch some surface elements too. That makes a range repair different from fixing a single burner or element.
Features like Power Preheat and convection add a fan and an extra element, and newer models add an air fry mode that relies on the same convection system. When one function fails and others still work, that pattern is our starting point. A range that bakes but will not broil, or heats the surface but not the oven, tells us a lot before any panel comes off.
When the controls are the problem
A display that goes blank, flickers or shows segments missing can mean a failing control board, a worn ribbon cable to the keypad, or a supply problem. On front-control models, the keypad sits where hands, steam and heat hit it, so membrane wear is common.
Electric ranges need two hot legs of 240 volts. If one leg is lost at the breaker or in the cord block, the display may work while the oven and large elements do not, which looks like a board failure but is not.
Checks before calling
Reset the range by switching off its breaker for a minute, then back on. Note any error code and when it appears. Check whether the oven lamp works, whether the broiler heats, and whether the surface works. That pattern helps us diagnose quickly.
Do not remove the back panel or the control housing yourself; line voltage is present there, even with the oven off.
Slide-in and front-control access
Slide-in Maytag ranges sit between cabinets with the side panels hidden. Many repairs are done from the front or top, but some need the range pulled out, which means disconnecting the gas or electrical supply and removing the anti-tip bracket. We protect the floor and countertop edges and reinstall the bracket before we leave.
Repair decisions on a full range
We test supply voltage, sensor resistance, igniters or elements and each control output before quoting. Most range repairs (sensor, igniter, element, keypad, cord block) are good value. A control board is a bigger part, but still often cheaper than a new range plus installation. We will give you one price and an honest view of the unit's overall condition.

A short reset by turning the breaker off for a minute can clear a one-time glitch. If the code returns, write down exactly what it displays and when it appears. Codes on these ranges often relate to the temperature sensor, door lock or keypad. They narrow the search but do not always identify the failed part, so we test the circuit the code points to.
The membrane keypad can wear out or be damaged by heat and cleaning spray seeping behind it. Sometimes a single button fails; sometimes the whole panel responds erratically. The keypad, the ribbon cable connection and the control board can all cause this, so testing determines which part needs replacing. Avoid spraying cleaner directly on the panel.
When everything goes dead at once, check the breaker first, because ranges use a double-pole circuit and one half can trip. Next suspects are the terminal block where the power cord connects, which can burn from a loose connection, and the power cord itself. A burned terminal block must be repaired before the range is used.
Many repairs, such as elements, igniters, sensors and controls on front-control models, are done with the range in place. Some, like rear wiring or terminal block repairs, require sliding it out, which is easier with access to the cabinets around it. We protect the floor and countertop edges and reinstall the anti-tip bracket afterward.
Power Preheat uses more than one heat source at once, typically the bake and broil or convection elements, to reach temperature faster. If preheating is slow only in that mode, one of those elements or the convection fan may be weak, while regular bake still seems normal. Testing each heat source separately confirms it.
Air fry relies on the convection fan and element moving hot air quickly. A slow fan, a failed convection element, or a dirty fan cover can weaken it. Using the recommended air fry basket and not overcrowding also matters. If results changed suddenly, a hardware fault is likely.
It can. Monsoon storms bring lightning and outages, and electronic range controls are sensitive to spikes. A range that behaves oddly right after an outage should be reset at the breaker first. If the display stays blank or garbled, the control or its power supply may be damaged. A surge protector for gas ranges is worth considering.
On many models, pressing Start without a valid setting, or with control lock active, produces a beep and nothing more. If the setup is correct, a worn keypad membrane may be sending the wrong signal. Front-control models are especially prone because the keypad sits near steam from pots.
A range that uses gas burners and an electric oven needs both a gas line and a 240-volt circuit. We check both supplies, the gas side for leaks and correct burner flames, and the electric side for voltage at the oven. Faults can come from either, so we test both.
