What to know about Thor Kitchen ranges
Thor Kitchen ranges are the brand's centerpiece: 30-, 36- and 48-inch pro-style gas and dual-fuel models with large convection ovens and, on some widths, a griddle or double ovens. A range repair here can involve burner ignition on top, the oven's bake and broil system, the convection fan, temperature controls, or the door. Dual-fuel models put an electric oven under gas burners, so both power and gas must be checked. We diagnose both halves, verify supply, check anti-tip mounting and quote the complete repair before starting.
TrueFix Las Vegas is an independent repair company, not affiliated with Thor Kitchen. If this range is still under its factory warranty, contact Thor Kitchen first.
Where Thor Kitchen ranges usually fail
- Large oven cavity heats slowly from a weak igniter
- Second oven on 48-inch range stops heating
- Griddle burner will not light on pro-style range
- Dual-fuel oven element fails while burners still light
- Oven light and convection fan stop together

Repairing Thor Kitchen ranges in the Las Vegas Valley
Thor Kitchen ranges are the brand's anchor product: 30-, 36- and 48-inch pro-style ranges in all-gas and dual-fuel versions, with sealed burners under continuous grates, convection ovens and, on wider models, a griddle or a second oven. All-gas versions typically broil with an infrared burner in the oven ceiling, while dual-fuel models bake and broil electrically.
Treating the range as one appliance matters because many faults cross between the top and the oven. A gas range still needs household power for spark ignition, oven lights and the convection fan, and a dual-fuel model needs both gas and a 240-volt circuit. We check supply, burners, ovens and controls before naming a part.
All-gas versus dual-fuel Thor ranges
On an all-gas Thor, the oven bake burner and the infrared broiler each have igniters, and the oven relies on a safety valve that opens only when the igniter draws enough current. The burner top shares the gas supply and the spark module.
On a dual-fuel model, the burner top runs on gas while the oven uses bake, broil and convection elements controlled by relays. When the top lights normally and the oven stays cold, attention shifts to the oven's electrical side, starting with the supply voltage.
Large ranges and multiple ovens
On 48-inch ranges, the second oven usually has its own heating parts and controls. Comparing the two ovens helps isolate whether a problem is in the supply, a shared component or one oven's parts.
Griddles add another burner and thermostat, which are diagnosed separately even though they share the range's gas supply.
Before you book a range visit
Confirm the range has power, whether through its plug or a breaker, and that the appliance gas shutoff is turned on. Then make a short list: which burners light, whether each oven heats, whether the broiler works, and whether the oven light and convection fan run. Note any code on the display and when it first appeared.
Do not pull a Thor range out of its opening yourself. Wider models are very heavy, the flexible gas connector is short, and the anti-tip bracket has to be reengaged when the range goes back.
How the repair is handled
Most range repairs happen from the front: burners and electrodes from the top, oven parts through the cavity, and switches, valves and the spark module behind the control panel. When the range has to come forward, we shut off gas and power, protect the floor and leak-test the connection when it goes back.
Igniters, elements, fans, valves, switches and controls are usually worth repairing on a Thor range, particularly since a matching replacement involves the hood, backsplash and counters around it. We confirm parts and timing before you approve.

Double-oven ranges have separate igniters or elements, sensors and controls for each oven. If one oven works and the other does not, the failure is isolated to that oven's parts. We test the igniter or element, sensor and control circuit for the oven that has failed.
Check the breaker first, because the electric oven on a dual-fuel range needs 240-volt power even though the burners only need a standard outlet for ignition. If power is present, a failed element, sensor or relay is a common cause. We test each part before replacing anything.
Large pro-style ovens take longer to preheat than standard ovens. If preheat times are getting noticeably longer over time, a weak igniter or element is often the cause. Note the time and compare it with what you used to see; we test the heating system.
Many repairs, like igniters, burners, sensors and knobs, can be done in place. Some oven and wiring repairs need the range pulled out, which requires care with heavy units and gas connections. We tell you what the repair involves first.
Yes. Even an all-gas Thor uses household power for spark ignition, the oven igniters, the oven lights and the convection fan. If the range is unplugged or the outlet has lost power, the burners will not spark and the oven will not light. A surface burner can be lit carefully with a match during an outage, but the oven should not be.
Metal panels, racks and the oven liner expand and contract with heat, so some ticking is normal, particularly on a large range. Loud bangs, popping at the burners, or a sound that comes with a flame change are not normal. If the noise is new and clearly louder than before, have the burners and oven checked.
The rating label is usually visible on the frame when the oven door is open, inside a storage or warming drawer, or on the back of the range. A photo of that label helps us confirm the correct parts before the visit, which can save a trip and shorten the time the range is out of service.
Both can be. Many ovens signal preheat when the sensor near the ceiling or back wall reaches the set point, while the racks, the walls and a thermometer on the center rack lag behind. Give a large Thor cavity another ten minutes before baking. If the thermometer never catches up, the sensor, igniter or element should be tested.
Yes. Island installations usually have the gas and power connections underneath or behind the range in the island cabinet. Many repairs are done from the front. If the range must be moved, we plan the space needed and protect the surrounding cabinetry and floor.
