What to know about Dacor stoves
A Dacor stove call usually concerns the burner side of a Dacor pro-style gas or dual-fuel range: heavy grates, sealed burners and features such as simmer and high-output burners, with illuminated knobs on some models. Common faults are igniters that click constantly or not at all, uneven flames from clogged ports, burners that will not hold a low simmer and knob lights that fail. Heavy pans and long cooking sessions put stress on the burner components. We check every burner and igniter, the gas connection and anti-tip bracket, then quote before repair.
TrueFix Las Vegas is an independent repair company, not affiliated with Dacor. If this stove is still under its factory warranty, contact Dacor first.
Where Dacor stoves usually fail
- High-output burner flame lifts or burns noisy
- Igniter will not spark on one burner after cleaning
- Low simmer setting will not hold a steady flame
- Burner knob light fails while the burner still works
- Heavy grates chip enamel and need replacement

Repairing Dacor stoves in the Las Vegas Valley
On this page, stove means the cooking surface: the sealed burners, grates, valves and ignition system on top of a Dacor pro-style gas or dual-fuel unit, along with older freestanding Dacor stoves still in service. The oven below has its own page, because the parts and the diagnosis are different.
Dacor burner tops are built for serious cooking, with high-output burners, low simmer settings and heavy cast-iron grates. That performance relies on precise flame control, so small problems such as a damp electrode or a partly blocked port show up quickly. We check each burner individually and confirm the gas supply before replacing anything.
How Dacor burners are designed
Many Dacor gas tops use sealed burners with separate caps and heads, and some models stack a smaller simmer flame below the main ring. The caps must sit exactly in place for the flame to spread evenly and for the igniter to light it.
Most current models use automatic reignition. If a flame goes out, the system senses it and sparks again. That is a useful safety feature, but it also means a dirty electrode or a misread flame can cause clicking while the burner is lit.
What the flame tells you
A flame that is tall and noisy on one side and short on the other usually means the cap is not seated or ports are partly blocked. A flame that lifts away from the burner on high may point to a pressure or orifice issue, especially after a gas conversion or regulator change.
If a burner lights but will not hold its lowest setting, the valve may not be metering gas correctly, or the simmer ports may be clogged. We test both before suggesting a valve replacement.
What you can check yourself
With the burners off and cool, lift each cap and head, wash them in warm soapy water and dry them fully. Make sure every cap sits flat and centered. Check the igniter tips for food residue and wipe them carefully with a dry cloth.
Avoid poking ports with toothpicks, which can break off inside. A gas odor with every knob off is a different matter: close the appliance valve, keep flames and switches off and get the utility out.
Repairing a high-end burner top
Igniters, spark switches, modules, valves, burner heads and caps are all repairable on Dacor stoves, and the cost is small compared with replacing a pro-style unit. Some parts may need to be ordered.
On older stoves, part availability can limit options, particularly for trim, knobs and discontinued spark modules. We check your model before quoting and explain whether a repair is practical, or whether a compatible substitute part exists.

Flames that lift away from the burner can mean too much air or gas, a misaligned cap or an incorrect orifice for your gas type. Make sure caps are seated and the burner is clean. If it persists, the air shutter or orifice may need adjustment, which we handle with the gas off.
Water or cleaner left on the electrode or under the burner prevents sparking. Let it dry fully for a day. A cracked ceramic insulator on the electrode can also stop the spark. If it still does not spark after drying, we test the electrode and wiring.
Yes, replacement grates are generally available for many models. Chipped or cracked grates can make pans unstable. We can help identify the correct part number for your model. Avoid putting grates in the dishwasher unless the manual allows it, and let them cool before washing.
Pro-style burners need adequate gas supply and pressure to perform well. Undersized or kinked connectors can cause weak flames. We check the connector, shutoff and regulator during service. Any work on the gas line itself should be done carefully, with the supply shut off.
On models with automatic reignition, the system is not sensing the flame. A dirty or wet electrode, a misaligned cap or a weak flame can cause it. Let everything dry, reseat the cap and wipe the electrode tip. If clicking continues, the switch, module or wiring may need testing.
A brief smell during ignition can happen if the burner takes a few seconds to light, letting a small amount of gas escape. Slow ignition often points to a dirty electrode or blocked ports. A persistent smell is not normal. Turn off the burners and shut the supply if the smell continues.
Many Dacor burner tops handle woks well, especially with a wok ring designed for that grate style. Avoid blocking airflow around the burner completely, since that can cause incomplete combustion and heat buildup around the knobs. Check the manual for recommended accessories.
High heat can tint stainless steel, especially around powerful burners. Oversized pans that push flame outward make it worse. Discoloration is usually cosmetic and does not mean a burner is faulty. Use cleaners made for stainless steel, wipe with the grain and avoid abrasive pads that leave scratches.
Grates can warp slightly from heat or sit unevenly if debris is underneath. Clean the grate seats and check that each grate is in its correct position. A warped or chipped grate can be replaced with the correct part for your model.
