What to know about Thor Kitchen stoves
Thor Kitchen stoves are the burner tops of the brand's pro-style gas and dual-fuel ranges, usually with sealed burners, continuous cast-iron grates and a mix of high-output and simmer burners. When customers call about a Thor stove, it is usually the cooktop surface: burners that will not light, constant clicking, flames that are uneven or too low, and knobs that loosen or crack from heat. Heavy use and boil-overs are the main culprits. We check each burner and igniter, clean or replace parts as needed, check the gas connection and anti-tip bracket and quote first.
TrueFix Las Vegas is an independent repair company, not affiliated with Thor Kitchen. If this stove is still under its factory warranty, contact Thor Kitchen first.
Where Thor Kitchen stoves usually fail
- High-output burner flame is weak from low gas pressure
- Igniter electrode cracks and burner will not spark
- Knobs loosen or crack from heat near the burners
- Simmer burner goes out at the lowest setting
- Boil-over residue clogs ports and flames burn yellow

Repairing Thor Kitchen stoves in the Las Vegas Valley
In this page, stove refers to the cooktop surface of a Thor Kitchen range: four, six or more sealed burners under continuous cast-iron grates, with a spark ignition system behind the knobs. The same top sits on Thor gas and dual-fuel ranges, so the burner side of the diagnosis is similar for both. The oven below is covered separately.
Thor burner tops are built for high heat and heavy pans, and the porcelain-coated caps and cast-iron grates take a beating. Most stove complaints come down to cleaning, cap alignment, worn spark parts or a valve that no longer meters gas evenly. Each burner gets lit and watched on high and low, and the supply pressure is confirmed, before we name a part.
How the spark system on a Thor stove works
When any knob is turned to light, a single spark module fires every electrode on the cooktop at once. That is why all burners click together. If one burner sparks weakly or not at all while others are fine, the electrode or its wire is the likely problem.
If no burners spark, the module, its power supply or a switch shorting the system is more likely. Moisture after cleaning often causes temporary clicking or failure, so letting the area dry is the first step.
Caps, heads and flame shape
Thor burners use a separate head and cap. If the cap is shifted even slightly, the flame can be lopsided, the burner can be noisy, or the igniter may not reach the gas. After cleaning, caps that are not seated are the most common cause of a sudden change in flame.
A burner that roars or lifts on high may have a cap problem, debris in the ports or a supply issue. A burner that will not stay lit on low can have clogged simmer ports or a valve that needs adjustment.
What you can check safely
With the burners off and cool, remove the grates, caps and heads. Wash caps and heads in warm soapy water, dry them thoroughly and reseat them carefully. Wipe the electrodes with a dry cloth and check for cracks in the white ceramic.
Do not use a toothpick or wire in the ports, and do not adjust the valves yourself. If you smell gas with the burners off, close the shutoff and call the gas utility.
Repair and replacement decisions
Electrodes, spark switches, modules, caps, heads, grates and valves are all replaceable on a Thor stove. The costs are modest compared with replacing a pro-style range, and the work rarely requires disconnecting it.
Some parts may need to be ordered. We confirm availability and timing before you approve the repair.

Weak flames on high can come from a clogged burner, an undersized gas connector or low supply pressure, especially if several burners run at once. Clean the burner first. If the flame is still weak, we check the connector, regulator and orifice.
Knobs near the cooking surface can get hot, and plastic knobs may crack over time. Replacement knobs are generally available. Cracked knobs can make it hard to control the valve, so replace them promptly. We can also check that the valve stem is not bent.
Yellow flames usually mean poor combustion from clogged ports, misaligned caps or debris. Clean and dry the burners and reseat the caps. If all burners burn yellow, the gas type or air setting may be wrong, which needs professional adjustment.
Yes. Even heavy pro-style ranges can tip if weight is placed on the open oven door. The bracket is included with most ranges. We check for it during any stove service and install one if it is missing, which takes only a few minutes.
That is normal. Most gas ranges fire every electrode at once when any knob is turned to light, which is why the whole top clicks. If clicking continues after the burner has lit, or starts with every knob off, a switch is probably wet or shorting. Let the top dry for a day; if it persists, we test the switches one at a time.
It is better not to. Dishwasher detergent and long wet cycles can dull enameled cast iron and promote rust on exposed edges and feet. Wash grates by hand with a nonabrasive pad, dry them completely, and set each one back in its original position so the pans sit level across the continuous surface.
The cap may not be the correct one for that burner, or debris may be under it. Some burners use different cap sizes. Clean the burner head and check that each cap matches its burner. A warped or chipped cap can be replaced.
A small, soft pop at shutoff can happen as the last bit of gas burns off. A loud pop, a flame that lingers after the knob is off, or a flame that flashes back into the burner body is not normal. Those point to a valve, an orifice or a burner problem, and the stove should be checked before regular use.
Moving a range can shift burner heads or caps and disturb the flexible gas connector behind it. Reseat the burner parts and make sure the range is level. If flames stay uneven, the connector may be kinked, or the regulator or orifices may need attention, and those are jobs for a technician with a leak tester.
