How a Repair Visit Works
What to know about Miele stoves
When owners call about a Miele stove, they usually mean the burners on a Miele range or rangetop. Those are sealed gas burners with electronic ignition and automatic reignition, so a burner that clicks without stopping, refuses to light or keeps snuffing out is the typical complaint. Spills or cleaning water that reach the igniter or the switch behind the knob are frequent causes. Burner caps that sit slightly off center can also give a lazy, uneven flame. Before calling, make sure the burner parts are dry and seated. We test the spark module, electrodes, switches and gas pressure on site.
TrueFix Las Vegas is an independent repair company, not affiliated with Miele. If this stove is still under its factory warranty, contact Miele first.

Repairing Miele stoves in the Las Vegas Valley
Owners usually call the cooking surface of a Miele range or rangetop the stove, and that is what this page covers: the gas burners, their ignition and reignition, the knobs and valves, and the grates above them. The oven half of a range has its own page. Rangetops, which have no oven below them and sit directly on the cabinet, use the same burner system and the same parts.
Miele's professional-style tops use M Pro dual stacked burners, which put a small inner ring for simmering under a larger outer ring for high heat. Each ring has its own gas path, so a burner that simmers fine but struggles at high, or the reverse, tells us which part of the burner to examine.
How a Miele burner lights and stays lit
When you turn a knob, a switch behind it signals the spark module, which fires the electrode at that burner. Once the flame is established, the system watches for it. If the flame goes out, reignition sparks again automatically. A fault anywhere in that chain shows up as clicking, failure to light or repeated relighting.
Grates and caps on professional-style tops are heavy, and they must sit exactly as designed. A cap that is rotated slightly or a grate placed over the wrong burner can change the flame pattern enough to trigger reignition.
Common complaints and their usual causes
A yellow, lazy flame often means a burner port or the inner ring is partly blocked by spills. Flames that lift off the burner with a roaring noise can indicate a pressure or orifice problem. A knob that turns stiffly or does not return to the off position cleanly involves the valve and needs a professional look, since valves control the gas itself.
What you can safely check
Let the top cool, then remove caps and burner heads, wash them, dry them completely and reseat them. Use a soft brush on burner ports rather than toothpicks, which can snap off inside. Check that each knob is pushed fully onto its stem.
Never remove valve knobs to spray cleaner behind them, and never try to adjust gas pressure. If you smell gas with the burners off, shut off the gas supply, leave the house and call the gas utility from outside.
Parts and repair decisions
Spark modules, switches, electrodes and burner parts on a Miele top are replaceable, and replacing them is almost always cheaper than replacing a professional-style range or rangetop. Valves are also serviceable, though they take more time. We quote the full repair, including any leak testing after reassembly.

Water from cleaning can seep into the igniter or the switch behind the knob, making the spark module think the burner is calling for ignition. Turn the burners off, remove the caps and let the area air dry for several hours. The dry air here helps. If clicking continues once everything is dry, a switch or the spark module may need replacing.
Usually the gas cannot reach the spark: a burner cap that is off center, a clogged port from a spill, or a burner head that is not seated properly. Check that the cap sits flat and centered. If the burner still sparks without lighting, the electrode gap, the gas valve or the supply pressure may be at fault. If you ever smell gas, shut it off and ventilate.
Sealed burners with automatic reignition will try to relight a flame that goes out, so you may hear clicking while simmering. Drafts from a nearby fan, a slightly misaligned cap or partially blocked ports can make a low flame unstable. If it happens on one burner only, cleaning and seating the parts often fixes it. Persistent problems point to the valve or gas pressure.
The burner hardware is similar, so ignition and flame issues are diagnosed the same way. The difference is installation: a rangetop sits in the counter with its own gas connection and power for ignition, so access is from above or the cabinet below. We check the gas supply, the electrical connection for the spark module and each burner individually.
On a dual stacked burner, the outer ring has its own ports and gas path. If only the inner flame lights, the outer ports may be blocked, the cap may not be seated, or the valve may not be opening fully to the high setting. Clean and reseat first, then book if it persists.
Miele offers accessories designed for its tops, and many owners use them. A heavy griddle or wok ring placed incorrectly can stress grates or interfere with ignition, so follow the manual for placement and let the burners cool before moving accessories.
No. Miele grates are designed to sit at a set height above each burner and to locate on the cooktop correctly. Grates from other ranges can change the flame pattern, block reignition or sit unevenly. Replace damaged grates with the correct Miele part for your model.
A faint sound at high flame can be normal on high-output burners. A loud whistle, roar or flames lifting off the burner is not normal and can point to the wrong orifice, a cap problem or pressure trouble. Turn it off and have it checked.
No. Current Miele tops use electronic ignition with automatic reignition, so there is no pilot burning constantly. That means a power outage can affect ignition. Check your manual before trying to light any burner by hand during an outage, since procedures differ by model.
