What to know about Thermador stoves
A Thermador stove usually means one of its professional-style gas ranges, the Pro Harmony or Pro Grand, so this page concentrates on the burner deck. The Star Burners and the ExtraLow simmer system rely on precise ignition and reignition, and spills or cleaning water often reach the igniters and switches. Typical calls involve burners that spark without lighting, continuous clicking, uneven star flames and griddle or grill elements on larger models. We check the gas supply and burner orifices, test igniters, switches and spark modules, and confirm proper flame on each burner before finishing.
TrueFix Las Vegas is an independent repair company, not affiliated with Thermador. If this stove is still under its factory warranty, contact Thermador first.

- Star Burner flame uneven because ports are clogged
- Igniter sparking constantly after cleaning water reaches switches
- ExtraLow simmer failing to reignite on low settings

Repairing Thermador stoves in the Las Vegas Valley
When a Thermador owner says stove, they usually mean the cooktop of a Pro Harmony or Pro Grand professional-style range: four to six Star Burners under heavy continuous grates, sometimes with a griddle or grill in the center. This page covers that burner deck. Oven problems are covered on the Thermador range and oven pages.
A pro-style deck sees serious cooking. High-output burners run for long periods, pots boil over, and the deck is wiped down with water and cleaner afterward. Over time, that moisture and residue find their way to the electrodes, switches and burner ports, which is where most of our stove calls begin.
The pro-style burner deck up close
Each Star Burner sits on a base with an electrode beside it, a valve behind the knob and a switch on the valve stem that signals the spark module. The deck usually has a spill tray beneath the burners. On larger models, an electric griddle or grill has its own element, thermostat and control.
Burners are sealed to the deck, so most of the work happens from the top once the grates and caps are off.
Burner faults and their causes
A burner that sparks but lights slowly typically has wet or blocked ports near the electrode. A burner that keeps sparking after lighting usually has a switch held closed by moisture or residue. An uneven star flame points to clogged ports in one arm or a cap not seated in its notch. ExtraLow burners that go out instead of cycling may have a weak electrode or a module that is not relighting reliably.
Griddle complaints usually involve uneven heat, a slow warm-up or a griddle that will not turn on, which points to the element, thermostat or switch.
Owner care for the burner deck
With the deck cool, remove the grates and caps, wash the caps and burner heads, dry them thoroughly and reseat them. Clear ports with a straight pin. Clean the spill tray and wipe around each electrode with a barely damp cloth.
Do not soak the deck with spray cleaner or water. Do not turn on a burner that has a cracked electrode. If you smell gas with knobs off, shut off the range supply and leave the house.
Repairs, parts and value
Electrodes, switches, spark modules, valves and griddle elements are all standard repairs on a Thermador burner deck. We confirm gas pressure and flame on each burner before finishing.
Pro-style ranges are expensive and built to last, so burner deck repairs are almost always worth doing.

Each point of the star has its own ports, and food or cleaner residue can block some of them, so the flame does not carry all the way around. Clean the burner head gently and make sure the cap is centered. If one area stays dark, the burner may be damaged or misaligned and should be checked.
Thermador's guidance varies by model, but cast iron grates generally do best with hand washing and drying to protect the coating. Burner caps should be cleaned by hand and dried fully. Water left in the burner or igniter is a common cause of clicking, so dry everything before use.
Some griddles take time to preheat, and the center and edges heat differently. If one side stays cool, the burner or element underneath may be failing, or the thermostat may be off. Clean grease from the drain and check the surface. A technician can test the burner and thermostat.
Turn the knob to off firmly. If the flame continues, shut off the gas supply valve behind or under the stove and ventilate the room. Do not use the stove again until it is inspected. A stuck valve is a safety issue, and we will test and replace it before returning the stove to use.
A clean, dry burner usually lights within a few seconds of turning the knob. If it sparks for longer, or lights with a soft pop, the ports near the electrode may be blocked or damp. Clean and dry the burner first. If slow lighting continues, the electrode or switch may need replacing.
Some smoke from oil and residue is normal, especially after seasoning. Heavy smoke, a burning smell or a griddle that heats much hotter than set should be checked. Turn it off, let it cool and clean the surface and grease trough. If smoking continues, the thermostat or control may be faulty.
Many Thermador gas ranges can run on propane with the correct conversion kit, new orifices and regulator adjustment. The work must be done carefully, then every burner, the simmer function and any oven burner must be tested for proper flame. Most valley homes are on natural gas, so we confirm the fuel at your meter or tank first.
Yes. On most Thermador ranges, turning any knob to light fires all the electrodes at once, and the sparking stops when you turn the knob past the light position. If sparking continues after the burner is lit and set, one switch or electrode is likely wet or failing and should be dried or tested.
Most cast iron grates should be washed by hand in warm soapy water, dried right away and kept away from harsh oven cleaners, which can damage the finish. Do not put them in a self-cleaning oven unless your model's manual specifically allows it. Heavy buildup can be loosened by soaking before a gentle scrub.
